VTMB N00b

Never played this before but played plenty of rpgs.
What clan/build is good for a first playthrough? Don't want to ruin my first experience with the game with a shit build. Tremere spellcaster okay? At first I wanted a melee/stealth build but that seemed better for Nosferatu or maybe on a 2nd playthrough.

Tremere Brainwashing is overpowered. Also stealth is so broken that you only need to invest a couple of points to be invisible

Just play Malk melee/stealth

Nosferatu is boring as shit. If you want a stealth run on your second character, go Malk.

Based and malkpilled.

Expect he won't understand the dialogue and will get spoilers he won't know the context for.

Hotel = uninstall

Any clan can work fine, just pick whichever one sounds most interesting to you. Don't neglect your offensive/defensive combat stats though, that's the main thing to prevent getting stuck with a shit build. Just remember you cannot beat the game by going 100% social, you will have to fight.

Focus on brawling and guns. Brawl allows to drain enemies of their blood

>spoilers he won't know the context for.
Then they're not really spoilers? I played Malk first and didn't feel like it spoiled anything, it actually kept me interested in the dialogue when usually I find it boring in most RPGs. Malk is still fun even if you don't immediately understand every reference they make.

gigantic pussy

Hey OP can you post us a screenshot of your build when you finish creating it

But it's tight.

Personally I like tearing shit up with Protean + Fortitude.
You can skip that section with console commands you know

Tremere are pretty solid. Blood magic is stronk.

Isn't post-hotel quite horrible with sewers and all that unfinished content?

Get the modded edition

The hotel is really early in the game. There are only a few unfinished and heavy combat parts near the end of the game, but even up until the end you still have mostly good content to play.

Oh wait you probably mean Hallowbrook instead of the Ocean House? If so then yeah the game is mostly combat after that point, though it's not that bad as long as you built your character for combat.

This is what I made to start out, finished tutorial area. Someone said research was worth investing in because of skillbooks, but really I have no idea what I'm doing.

In regards to combat I recommend not using Protean because the sound and graphics effects get annoying quickly but there should be a way to remove them in the files. I used guns a lot in the last level since I had so much ammo and they felt horrible to shoot. If I were to play it again I'd go brawl or melee. I think melee is a lot stronger but they're both satisfying to use.

You over invested in research man

The combat can be completed using melee and ranged weapons available to anyone.

This is fine. Just use blood buff and punch things if you get into trouble during any combat in the early part, but make sure you put some points into combat stats soon, especially once you get to the second hub.

Focus on one type of speech because when your good at one you don't need the others

Any tips on how to fix? Since I'm so early on I'll just restart, don't really care.

Research is pretty useful up until around 6 or 7 points in it, less useful after that because of how much it costs to raise it. Won't find many books needing that much right away but you still get quite a few books early on and it'll be enough to use most of useful ones.

GIVE

>Tremere spellcaster okay?
Yes that's fine, but don't do the full update because that guy that runs it nerfed all their powers. Do the partial update that only does the bugfixes (although that leaves out all the restored music and levels which sucks).

Buff Hacking and one type of combat style. I recommend brawling
