For my part, The Witcher 3 is clearly not a good game. Fighting gameplay is bad and thats why I stop play it after 3 hours.
And when I say bad I want to say very very very bad gameplay

CDPR has been a reactionary company since they started. Witcher 1 was a reaction to the complaint that choices in Bioware RPGs don't matter. Enhanced Editions were reactions to fan-feedback. TW2 tried to do the GITGUD hardcore fighting popular due to Demon Souls. GoG's "DRM FREE" strat was a reaction to DRM-hate. TW3 is open world cuz-Skyrim, but they removed level scaling also cuz-Skyrim.
Zoom forward to current times and look at what trends CDPR has to react to and it's clear why you shouldn't expect that much from them.

Always thought it was B A D compared to the witcher ii. Choices didnt matter. No replay value. Characters dialogues didnt matter. Everything turned into catch and fetch. Muh aliens. Follow food steps throw potion to kill beast. Large and empty fucking world with lil to nothing do.
It felt like a huge step back because they basically made a medieval grand theft auto out of one of the most compelling RPG’s in the genre were it really mattered what you did in the game.

gameplay was never cdpr's strong point, but the combat base in w3 is actually pretty good.
if you need proof just look at some mods like w3:ee.
unlocks the attacks, lets you control your sword with the mouse, manual attack distance, no more iframes on dodging etc. takes a bit more time to get used to than your usual actionrpg but it gets real fun once you do.
