I use it with 3-4 friends while we play Duck Game. You're clearly not using it correctly. Going into a public server is like walking through the door of the underage virgins' and pedo wizards club and expecting to make friends and have a good time.
What is the appeal of hosting a public discord server? The owners only ever interact with the same people anyway and now there's just a clusterfuck of adminning to do or else you get pinned for hosting a pedo ring

Letting random people make chatrooms and moderate them is plainly a bad idea. Discord mods get christ-complexes and the users either dicksuck the mods or become very xenophobic to the point where it just turns anyone else off from joining the community. The only good servers are under 30 people. I have a good story about a public one I was in:
