It's another long section of doing nothing but holding down forward while listening to the characters talk

here's your next gen gaming experience bro

I found the characters and story really interesting and fun so this was good for me, fuck you.

it's like 5 years old game. how is it "next gen"?

storyfags so deluded they now call cutscenes "fun".

It was only 2 years ago.

faggot

yes they are like cutscenes, they even give you the option to activate "cinematic mode" which means the characters will move on their own so you don't have to play it. call it an interactive movie if you want, I don't care, I had fun.

This game is a pain with how restrictive it is in free roam mode. You try to rob a place and even if you kill everyone silently with throwing knives (since you can't hogtie them), hide their bodies and in general avoid making a circus out of it, the game still finds a way to have the telepathic police alerted and have them send in 20 cops instantaneously to find you.

After gta5 I was done with cuckstar. It's a shame they're too big to fail, just like the rest of this garbage industry

>It's another mission where the game stops being a tps and turns into a david cage game where you do mundane shit like serve drinks and milk cows
This game unironically expects you to shovel pig shit, not once but twice. WTF R*?

The game's story suffers too much from overcharacterizing the MC. Really takes you out of things if you're playing Arthur like a psychotic serial murderer and the cutscene makes him into a gold-hearted do-gooder.
I'm not against story-heavy video games but it seems to me they need to develop their own style of storytelling instead of just aping film tropes.

>caring about rockstar after GTA 4

>got a tip about a stagecoach coming out of blackwater
>set myself up on a cliff and sniped everyone
>when I got down there to loot it, five more guards spawned out of nowhere
>killed them all, no witnesses
>took one step into Blackwater to loot the coach
>"CRIME REPORTED"
>a fucking army of police comes after me and mows me down instantly
i respect a game that sticks to realism

>they are like cutscenes
except you can't skip them and they make up the bulk of mission """""gameplay"""""

nah that shit was good. felt like a movie at times and I liked that. it all blended well. i need to replay it, been a couple years.

RDR1 was the same shit

doesn't matter
had fun

no, the gameplay does. Don't forget all the shooting and going for rank or missions like trolling around the St Denis graveyard and all the shit like that.

It's one of those one and done games. It's easy, holds your hand and you sit back and watch the flashy fights, cutscenes and conversations You play it once, enjoy it like watching a TV series then you're done and it collects dust on the shelf.

>felt like a movie
absolutely disgusting that anyone here says this as an unironic compliment.
By the way, it doesn't feel like a movie. Maybe it does if all you've seen is capeshit, but anyone who's seen anything of value can spot all the hacky movie cliches that would be laughed out of cinemas if it were an actual film.

It's pretty bad this time around, because I think the dialogue in this game is really boring. I do not understand why everyone loves the writing and these characters. In past Rockstar games, riding and talking was more tolerable because there were more colorful characters who often said interesting/funny things, and the protagonist would really engage with them

But in this game, pretty much every mission is just riding along with your boring gang members, most of whom are pretty dry. And Arthur himself generally says very little, mostly just grunting in agreement or going along with it. So every mission is just listening to your gang members bark at you about the current mission as you ride. There's hardly anything of the funny banter or interesting conversation we've seen in their past games.

i dont get why rockstar wants arthur to be such a golden boy. i liked one of the early trailers in the game that mostly showed arthur being a huge jackass. the game would have been more fun if he was like that most of the time

yes, watching a cutscene is a fun part of a gaming experience for me and I want more and more games utilizing film-like structures, cope

The cancer that ruined gaming right here.

i loved how GTA IV had different sets of "driving to the mission" dialogue, so that you weren't stuck listening to the same shit over and over if you failed a mission
i wonder how many people even noticed

>die
>game makes you sit through some fucking clouds and respawns you instead of giving you the option to load a manual save

And on the contrary, when I'm feeling cozy just hunting and exploring, story missions feel like a chore. Why do I need to loot this train again?

>nooo why can't i savescum
git gud

That's not contrary, I feel the same way. If the story was good, it wouldn't feel like a chore.
Death Stranding is about as story heavy as this game, if not moreso, but I actually liked that story so I enjoyed it.

>want to fuck around for a bit and have fun maybe blow my own horse up with tnt
>fucking save scummers using manual saves
