It doesn't surprise me that a lot of fan shmups are better than the official, given that many of them are "that one game" a small team pours all of their resources into for years. But I don't think their music tends to be better, especially if they are trying to create ZUN-style music.

I posted this in the shmup bread but it died.
Today I replayed MoF since I hadn't replayed that one in years and that guy that cut himself out of frustration on jaypee trying to beat it motivated me to replay it.

It was really fun yet it's one of the easier 2hu games. I tried Marisa C because she reminded me of Remilia's shot type in IN and I really liked that one but it's nowhere near as good. It fucking sucks. Went back to MarisaA and beat the shit out of Normal+Extra and beat the shit out of the unpopular hag god and frog loli god. Kanako's last spellcard is extremely fun, I swear I was popping some brain veins out of concentration, also I didn't remember the waterfall being such a kick in the dick, lost like 3 times there before beating it.

Good game, I can see why people like it even if I thought it was a downgrade from 8 when I played them all in a row.
