I enjoyed Nier: Automata, however it caught my eye because, and I'll be frank, 2B was sexy! So... you can imagine my disapproval upon hearing this title will feature a sausage. Look, I have nothing against male protagonists, I just strongly prefer to avoid those titles. To each their own. What it boils down to is this, if we get a selectable female protagonist, I'll grab a copy. Otherwise I'll pass. I'm sure the game will be great, it's Square Enyx after all, but I just won't be part of it.

The combat in automata isn't supposed to be Bayonetta/DmC deep.
Still way better than original Nier's press attack 3 times combat depth.

How is this the peak? Everywhere I see online people say the story is god tier and gets better with each playthrough.

9S's combat is about hacking and you'll play him quite a bit, you can do some fun stuff by controlling enemies but it's sadly not very reliable.

Other than that you'll get some fun pod program and with some of the better chips you will be able to do some nice combos/have more mobility, and generally the game gets easier with time (except maybe at the start of route C)

Xbox version should daddy Nier and ps version gets brother Nier

The story is just over the top anime drama. Everyone dies in epic ways in the final act but then not really. Don't expect anything mind blowing.

The standalone set pieces like the amusement park, the giant sea robot and the death cult are more interesting IMO.
