Why are PC gamers choosing to use an inferior control option?
What went wrong?
Valve says more gamers are choosing to use a controller on PC now

As I've aged I prefer a controller. Even for FPS.
I'm lazy I guess.
>Using KBM for games like dark souls
Yikes and redditpilled
>games are designed for controller first
>WHY GAMERS ARE CHOOSING TO USE A CONTROLLER
Solve this, retard
I kick back and relax on my couch and play Souls/DMC/Sekiro/New Vegas. No need for kB&m
more and more platformer, TPS or fighting games
less and less FPS
This year? I spend all day on the computer with the keyboard and mouse. Last thing I want to do is keep sitting in the same chair and using the same keyboard and mouse.
So I'm mostly playing with the Steam controller from the couch.
because PC gaming is dead. the new generation of PC gamers only care about playing console games at a better frame rate and don't give a shit about real PC games that utilize a keyboard and mouse
Some games are made for keyboard and mouse, some for controllers. No reason to getting into tribal squabbles, just enjoy the freedom of choice.
Mostly because every indie game these days is developing their game for controller use first and foremost.
Any game that requires aiming and shooting, I'll use keyboard and mouse. Strategy and games as well.
For most other genres, I'll use a controller
some games are just better designed for a controller and no amount of pc autist sperging will change that. kb+m might be the undeniable king for fps and rts games but for most third person games, especially something that isn't online, i tend to prefer a controller.
more people are playing on pc than they used to and more console games are getting quality pc releases
Pretty much all games are designed for console now
Depends on the game.
I will always use a controller for platformers, action RPGs, and """stylish action"""" games
Because WASD movement is stupid when control sticks exist, and I am not bothering to remember what letter is mapped to what.
When was the last good first person shooter released?
You don't need a mouse for anything else.
I have to use a controller for Ace Combat 7 and Dark Souls but that's because their control scheme requires it
Literally not a single game that isn't a 2d fighting game or platformer (just 2d, even For Honor works better with 5 buttons mouse and keyboard) plays better with M&K, not even action hack and slash and soulslike
FPSs suck. I prefer playing 2D sidescrollers and Souls-like stuff with a controller, simple.
>When was the last good first person shooter released?
Prodeus, Eternal?
Real Yakuza use a game pad
>Valve says growing number of people are faggots now
Consoles have ruined gaming
Are people really this incompetent that they can't play 3d games with keyboard?
You know you press A and, let's say, W at the same time?
Controllers are better for some games, and KbM is better for others.
There are some games that I play primarily with a controller, but will switch midgame to KbM for some sections, namely for first-person shooting.
probably because its comfy and aim assist is broken as fuck
I have never heard of either.
If keyboard was bad for fighting games, they wouldn't make mixboxes
controllers are the reason why a lot new games suck. Shooters are made for them, RPGs are made for them, basically any new game is made to work with controllers.
Have you tried playing souls games on KB+M? All the games that require aiming are better on KB+M, however.
Prey, Doom 2016
It depends on the game, I generally use KB&M, but if it's a souls game or something like Outer wilds or a racing game etc. then a controller feels better.
All souls games play much better with kb&m
>wrong
More like what went right. Gyro aiming is amazing.
pc is primarily a platform to play console games at nicer settings now
i made peace with that fact long ago
Valve has completely ruined PC gaming by infecting the user base with faggot weebs and console refugees who bring their console crap to the PC instead of adopting the superior PC method.
I'll give you doom, dogshit platforming tower aside, but prey is a simrpg.
Two reasons. Strategy games and MOBAs are in decline. Aim assist in multiplayer FPS on the rise.
People who can't appreciate the comfyness of a controller really should just mind their own business.
I like Outer Wilds better on mouse, but I did have to spend a while rebinding the buttons. Default layout is trash.
this
People who insist on using baby toys to control their devices should stick to a baby's platform.
1. There's a lot more 'console first' ports on Steam now that look and play great...and often play better with their original control scheme.
2. To this day, a lot of kids and teens don't get into PC gaming until they can afford to, which is usually when they're older - but the damage has been done.
3. Outside of FPS, RTS, and MMORPGS - who cares?
Because people want to have fun. Not playing with min-max faggots who sit 24/7 infront of a computer and cries about people not playing the game exactly as they want.
I'm playing more and more games with controllers. Fuck sitting hunched infront of a computer, all alone, (sorry in some tranny infested discord nigger shit) and playing some vidya. Disgusting.
DMC/Souls play better with pad. There's a reason everyone good at these games uses pad
>Never heard of DOOM Eternal
lurl more retard
PC is the new console and consoles will die plain and simple.
I use my X52
Uhh, lol?
Nice, uh, argument or whatever that wise loser.
Just mind your own business.
Your life is worth less than steam controller support.
tv, 3rd person games
I play everything with keyboard and mouse unless it's a multiplayer (in the same screen) video game.
Incorrect
>Holds W and controls movement by turning the camera because WASD can't offer precise movement
I laughed
Heyo
Some games are better and more comfortable to play with a controller.
Soulslike games monster hunter play way better with controllers
nah ds2 sucks donkey ass.
How does one get used to controllers? I never grew up with it so I literally don't know.
Regardless of what kind of game it is, I'll still play with a m+kb.
I play side scrollers, platformers and action games with a controller, sure. Some games just feel like clunky ass when playing with KB+M, and controllers feel like shit for FPS games and alot of RPGs.
Some people want to sit comfortably and not risk losing their wrists
The only time I ever find myself using a KB/M these days are either for multiplayer games that require Quake level of control, or RTS. Even Single Player shooters and co-op shooters can be played with a controller. And for the super hardcore to give themselves a challenge, they often play with controller since once you learn how to play with a mouse everything becomes trivial.
99% of big budget games are made for consoles and then ported to PC. they're built around controller and that causes issues, mainly 1) movement being designed around analog input translates poorly to keyboard + walk modifier. movement never feels decent in a lot of console ports. 2) aiming with a mouse makes any shooter absolutely trivial. if you want a challenge you have to downgrade to controller in shooters.
Many people use TV as monitor and use PC on big screen. Personally have 49' 4k screen.
Makes sense for 90% of games. Yes, Keyboard and Mouse are obviously superior in every way for FPS and RTS games but not all games are FPS or RTS games.
>tfw I don't own a single controller
Anyone else know this feel?
Strategy games.
Hasn't been many good ones of those in a long while though, either.
Turning with the camera IS precise movement.
Aiming overhead strikes and stabs is fucking amazing.
I never use lock-on ever.
how?
Couch gaming OP. If you spend all day in an office you don't want to do it at home.
