The PS5 launch in Europe is one giant shitshow. MediaSaturn one of Europes biggest retailers still hasn't delivered most of the preordered PS5 consoles to customers.
As it turns out employees used their access to the system to order more consoles than Sony can provide while exchanging their new order number with the old valid ones resulting into most consoles going to MediaSaturn employees who sell them on ebay for profit.
Especially germans are outraged and the hashtag #WoBleibtMeinePS5 (Where is my PS5?) has been trending in Germany all weekend.

If you try to contact customer support with the topic "PS5" they just outright ignore you. And if you pretend to ask for something else and later switch the topic to PS5 they just disconnect / end the call right away.
They don't want to tell you where your PS5 is.

No the buyers don't have to give them back. I don't know exactly how it works, but in germany if a product gets stolen from a store that has those things insured, the buyer is allowed to keep the product if he didn't know the seller stole it.

Yeah unlike Amazon and other retailers Media Markt are not getting a third wave from Sony. Everyone else sold more additional consoles when the PS5 released 3 days ago but Media Saturn didn't get any more consoles because they didn't even manage to deliver the initial orders.
Sony won't give them any more consoles until February so unless they find those thousands of missing PS5 consoles somewhere or buy them from scalpers to give them to their customers they are fucked.
