I agree, but NH is a very solid 2nd.

Anyway, Crash Bandicoot as far as the platformers (ie not CTR) go.

>1st game has more soul
>sequels have better quality-of-life changes but less soul

I agree that music-wise, the original was definitely the best. I mean, I can barely remember any of the music from New Horizons. Even Wild World/City Folk had better music. The one standout track in New Horizons for me is the 7 a.m. theme, very good.

>dropped NH faster than any other AC
wish i could relate

that's not the first game

I guess that means the first super mario bros was the japanese famicom one and the 2nd mario game wasnt SMB2 but rather smb1 for nes in america according to your logic, semantic retard. Everyone knows what OP meant but you just had to come in and post your useless smug empty reply

acnh is the worst in the series

Pikmin

This game scared the shit out of me as a kid

animal crossing was a remaster of doubutsu no mori, with a fuckton of new content added
your examples make no sense

>1st game is peak soul
>2nd game is well polished but is blatantly rushed
>3rd game is shite outside of the core gameplay
>everything onward is dogshit at worst, mediocre at best

e+ is the best AC.

What's the appeal of darksouls?

2 isn't blatantly rushed, 3 is.

is people who never play games on hard/hardest difficulty setting.

Pretty sure every Spyro gae was hilariously rushed, but the only one that was so rushed that it was unironically shit was Enter the Dragonfly.

normiecore "hard" game

So basically the appeal is that people can't choose the difficulty level, correct?

the setting and weapon variety

Dark souls 1 is a bad game imo. It really wastes the players time and there's very little reward. Seemed more experimental than anything

GCN > NL > WW > NH > CF

City Folk only worse than NH because the grass deterioration was atrocious and a pointlessly game-ruining feature in some cases. NH should have easily been the best, but they made the dialogue shit and stripped out half the features that the previous game had to drop feed them back as "new" content to hype up updates. Brewster and his cafe still isn't in the game after 8 months and it took them 2 months after launch just to get fucking basic ass paintings in. The online sucks fucking BALLS too compared to NL. No minigames, horrific load times and you have to pay for it this time too.

take your meds

that setting isn't that inspired, generic castles and shit everyone has seen 1000x times. the combat is very plain.

I never played the handheld games (Wild World and New Leaf), but between the GameCube game, City Folk and New Horizons, the GameCube Animal Crossing was my favorite.

The only GC sequel that actually disappointed was City Folk. The DS and 3DS versions were just on far weaker hardware, and for the switch version had to remake all the assets (every furniture, carpet, wallpaper, shirt, pants, fruit, bugs, fish, etc.) in HD which was such a monumental task it's a miracle they could even get as much of the game's content in as they could. City Folk was the only case where they had the ability to improve the game but did nothing.

That’s not even the first game

It wasn't the first to use that style of combat, but you can only really consider it plain because so many modern games have copied it now.

This
NH is easily the worst AC and I'm tired of pretending it's not.
They added some cool stuff but god fucking damn it's empty. 2 shops. No multiplayer content beyond looking at someone's island, y'know, shit the screenshot tool can do
It's embarrassing how this series is always one step forward two steps back. New Leaf was the best entry with Gamecube a very very close second. It'd be first though if not for the jarring screen scroll, and for the clunky outdated menu's/QoL stuff

You’re a huge retard seeing as the difference between the two games “first” and “second” games are vastly different.

NH is so fucking soulless it's incredible. The saving grace is being able to customize the town more but the crafting and dialogue are utter shite largely imo.

Souls franchise started with demon's, stupid

it's legend of zelda style z targeting combat, don't tell me you actually think Dark Souls is unique?

Keep in mind with updates that obviously the full animal crossing team is not gonna sit for 2 years working on updates. They have a small team pumping out the updates while most of their employees are working on splatoon 3. As to why it takes them so long to add these things in updates. Especially since they have to make the holiday stuff. Updates will probably speed up after the holidays are over.

its dark souls, tard

I'm so fucking sick of game developers unironically saying "Ooohhhh but it's haaard to make games :c"

Exploration, lack of handholding, worldbuilding

The combat is fun compared to most AAA franchises

why does it have to be unique? most things arent

Autism speaks. It's time to listen.

Ace Attorney

This is a case where it actually is. There are literally thousands of items in animal crossing and they had to remake them all in HD. With the previous games they could just reuse the gamecube assets. You can't stick gamecube assets in a 1080p game, it would look so horrible. The good thing is this gives them a base to work with for the foreseeable future. I think they can at least reuse all the assets for the next two animal crossing games.

maybe you should read my comment again

Mario 3 is better.

It's pathetic holidays even get hyped up as updates content. Having holidays at their real world dates is just the bare minimum feature the series has always done. It's still retarded they're not just on the cart to begin with. Meanwhile the other features they've been adding is just back-filling stuff New Leaf had since its launch, barring growing pumpkins. Really feels like the game was still incredibly unfinished and they needed another delay. Everyone I know quit playing after 2 months when they played NL a year+ straight because it was content complete. Drip feed just makes you wait around in a feature-barren decorating simulator and not care anymore by the time they add swimming, dream worlds, paintings or other basic things. That paired with the garbage online and animal interaction has had a brutal effect.

honestly I think the main thing that made dark souls explode, outside of very good marketing, is that it's the only game series released by a major publisher where you can make wacky character concepts like "dual wields an asian sword and a scottish claymore" and have both of those weapons feel like "they should" instead of just using the same static animations or being stat boosters in an rpg
compare it with a game that released the same year, skyrim, where every character type that uses weapons pretty much moves and plays the exact same just with different stats, and then look at DS1 where big heavy havel armor knights FEEL appropriately slow and powerful, a ninja with no armor and a knife really can flip around the enemies, ect ect. the variety of builds and the different tactile feeling they offer is very under-discussed as to why these games have an appeal over other games because people would rather just talk about how hardcore they are for playing them without using co-op

The picture is just showing the series, nor the first gene in the series

Instead of getting the space odyssey being built towards, we got Cerberus, corridors, awesome buttons and DLC. Also there's more soul on its Citadel than in all the following games combined.

Too bad the end result was a husk of a game with pretty graphics. I'll give them the credit for the visuals, it looks great. But absolutely everything else suffered mortally for the HD graphics and terraforming I feel. As nice as it looks it's the most boring and hard to stick with entry in the series for me.

Very based post. Ignore every zoomer that tells you otherwise.
