You could do a lot worse for $50 than a dedicated little Mario machine. Also it's been homebrew-cracked already, apparently, but it's not gonna be a Game Boy Classic or anything like that without expanded storage because it's 1.3MB of RAM and 1.1MB of on-board flash memory for the firmware and games.

ok

you could just spend nothing and load some emulators on your phone, but if you must have a dedicated machine you can get a PSP or DS for 10 bucks and get a flashcart with micro SD card with the remaining money and have a way better portable emulator

The only Game Boy game I need on it is Game & Watch Gallery.

I just use it as a desk clock.

Good taste, that you could probably get away with. I'm actually kinda baffled it's not more of a Game & Watch celebration but I get that it's a 35th-anniversary thing for Mario.

id buy a metroid or a samus one or a mario one that had mario bros 3 on it but not this

Nintendo's Jewish enough I bet if they're popular there'll be more of them, I'd kill for a Zelda one with Zelda 1/2 and maybe LTTP on it along with the Zelda G&W

That's why I've got my hopes up at least for a zelda one with its anniversary coming soon.

dont try and justify this shit

Nobody's trying to. Don't buy the damned thing if you don't want one.

are we really gonna have to wait until 2024 for a gameboy classic mini?

>I never was able to get enough stars to unlock the Zelda G&W in Gallery
All these years later and still it taunts me.

What the fuck you expected?

I personally thought it'd be a tiny bit beefier than it is considering how cheap even large amounts of storage are nowadays but I'm not surprised at all that it's as limited as it is considering its purpose is "tell the time and play two Mario ROMs." Though I like a lot that it's nicely built, the brass or gold colored faceplate is made of metal and the red plastic is pretty thick and tough like old handhelds.

You can fit the whole NES library on the NES classic, and most of the SNES library on the SNES classic. Nintendo learned their lesson I guess.

>arrived today
>its actually comfy

It's a collector item, not meant to slap roms.

True enough I guess. I just can't get over how much comfier FF1-3 would be on a console like this than Mario.
I get fucking pissed that I can't do jumping crouch as well with this D-pad.

You can store half of gb library in 1.3mb

Fuck off with this scam

I found it hard to put the fucking thing down when I got one, having no options but two Mario ROMs and a Game and Watch game did wonders for keeping my interest firmly on it.
Depending on the games you could actually have a little best-of around the size of a Classic for a library, Link's Awakening for example would chew through nearly 300KB of its limited 1MB storage but then there's games like Tetris which is 20KB and Mario Land which is just shy of 40KB. Bigger factor for Game Boy would be the size of the ROM loader firmware, wouldn't be pretty with less than 1MB of space to play with and any space left over being for games and even Nintendo's own firmware is just a volume and brightness control screen, an idle animation on the click, two NES ROMs and a Game and Watch title.

It's only a scam if you go in expecting anything more than what it tells you it is on the box.

suck, i was thinking of buying if i can jam in all the roms and play snes with it as well

Apparently it should be possible to inject other NES roms at the very least, the current hurdle is that the system live-patches the game much like how 3D All-stars does with its emulator.
This is only done to make the ROM display 2020 instead of 1985 but it still complicated rom injection for now.

Hopefully someone can inject at least SMB3 on it, if not other games as well.

The only dedicated gaming handheld worth buying is the RG351

>muh chinkshit

That's not a New 2DS and hacking it.

>DPAD in the wrong place

why doesnt it have a fucking alarm. it's useless. but i did buy it in case a cool hack comes out for it someday. playing lost levels is cool. i'm actually playing through without warps for once in like 20 years

>wrong place

Based

the clock function is really only to justify calling it a game and watch.
Obviously the screen doesn't stay on in clock mode so it's a pale imitation.

>it's useless. but i did buy it
peak Zig Forums
but honestly the only reason i didn't buy it because u cant inject shit into it and i don't think you would be unless you did some major hardware modification

if the dpad isn't vertically symetrical with the face buttons the controller is 100 guaranteed bonafide trash.

this kills the snoy

>still wrong

>u cant inject shit into it and i don't think you would be unless you did some major hardware modification
people already injected DOOM, anime girls and Rick Roll.
You don't need to modify the hardware, Ninty left a bunch of pins available you can just use a simple clip-on debugger to inject data through.

will this pos have any resale value?

you're saying this like I don't have a CFW 3DS or something.
maybe.
people are bidding on it for x2 the RRP already so I'll sit on my unboxed unit for a year or two.

for sure at least as collectible, isn't it sold out already?

my local target has 6 in stock

Nintendo's is the one classic library that is pretty thoroughly catalogued and jailbroke. You could play any NES game you want on a device that could fit in your piss hole. Why would you ever spend fifty hard earned dollars on this dreck?

Attached: cucked.jpg (113x113, 18.6K)

As a collectible item sure, as a little pocket-game it'd probably still be valued because hey it's SMB, and the build quality on it is very nice. It's not a flaming piece of shit like the mini Game Gear at least.

it got sold out on preorder opening day and then got sold out again whenever stores announced more stock for preorder.

wait nvm, the stock might be out at retailer but they are plentiful on nintendo official website

scalpnigger get ye gone

Attached: 1586535090096.jpg (500x500, 33.91K)

to be fair neither your phone, 2DS or chinkshit handheld is as small, light and thin as this machine.
It honestly rivals the GB micro for extremely small handhelds.

a Game & Watch tribute that had more G&W games than NES games
would also be nice if it actually had the original G&W game that it's named after

Attached: notcomfy.png (500x500, 213.98K)

I'm not gonne make it bros

Attached: riv.png (538x426, 152.96K)

It's the biggest stocking-stuffer ever, a collector item, or something to pull out on the bus if you don't need or want any larger or more powerful games than Super Mario Bros. Basically if you're asking questions about the purpose of it you're not the intended purchasing audience.

If they literally just released one of these with Game and Watch Gallery Advance as its only rom it would still be a better package IMO.

no. its a cheap burger king plastic toy. i went to target to get one and they had about 30 in stock

nah fuck gamers, especially zoomer gamers

Does it tell the time like the old ones?

>And Game of the Year goes to...

Attached: Game_and_Watch_SMB_Ball.png (359x270, 9.31K)

you would think there would be a new G&W collection out at this point

Attached: mrs game & watch.jpg (640x480, 63.26K)

Yeah it has a clock function.
They pretty much tapped out anything interesting between the four Game & Watch Galleries but I'm surprised they haven't made a new compilation in a fair while. I think the last one for GBA was EU-JP only?

Attached: 1576628629190.png (1500x1000, 1.34M)

It's a niche collectible

yeah you could be the retard actually falling for the scam
