Unless it's literally your job to do so (and even then most game journalists get away with bullshitting about games they never played) you should never feel obligated to play all the games in a series. It's very likely that you won't enjoy some of them and also entirely possible that you won't live long enough to make it through the whole series, so you should aim to play the ones that interest you as early as you can.

lads i gotta be honest. i fucking hate 1 and 2. enemies flipping around and instagibbing is a gay mechanic i don't have the patience to find how to exploit. I know there is something there because obviously there are people who fucking no-hit the final boss or w/e on insane and it seems like there are bosses and encounters that have cool mechanics but god damn I just can't stand it. Lacrimosa was S tier though and I rather enjoyed celcetta. Origins was dope as well. Playing through 7 right now.
