Stupid boomer fuck. They should have outed him after the n64 gen.

He's also the reason we wont get an fzero until he dies

Wtf nitenbros what was that?

He should have retired during the Wii era.

I respect all the work he's done in the past, but is he even relevant to Nintendo's success anymore?

It's not the first time he has done things like that to zelda. Four swords adventures was meant to bridge the gap between Ocarina of Time and a Link to the Past before he "upended the teatable"

You guys remember Wii Music? Wasn't that his idea?

Twilight Princess had too much filler, so I don't care if it never gets a sequel.

Miyamoto is a turbo autist when it comes to IPs he works on. He's mostly responsible for a lot of the shitty gimmicks nintendo shits out

Sakurai's death was the end of anything decent about Nintendo, Miyamoto seems chiefly to blame for everything they've been putting out looking so bland

>actual sequels and lore continuity now

So what happened? Does he have control anymore?

Mario Odyssey

It was basically his baby and he never truly got over it being shat on

Personally, I'm surprised a multiplayer party game is even part of the series timeline.

I stand corrected

Wii music is a pretty fun toy, and the best it could be within its constraints. At the very least, nothing was sacrificed.

>Sakurai's death

WHAT? SAKURAI IS DEAD?

Sakurai isnt dead, what are you talking about?

Nobody even talks about this game anymore. It died 2 weeks after release

damit sakurai is dead thats why smash dlc is delayed?

He's barely conscious. When he was first shown BOTW, all he did was climb up a tree, climb back down it, and then repeat climbing up and down that same tree.

For an hour.

I think Miyamoto only likes his own ideas.

He is the face, not only of Nintendo, but also of the industry itself. I don't think there is anyone else who is as associated with this medium as he is. When you think of video games, you think of Mario and Miyamoto. So no matter how many times he screws up, no one is going to say anything to his face. We'll have to wait for him to retire.

Also Pikmin 3, as well as motivating the Splatoon team to come up with unique character designs, which resulted in the Inklings.

I can see where he's coming from. His logic is "gameplay > story" to the nth degree.
Why make the same game over again when the first one already exists? That's the road to leads to movie games.
You might disagree because he cut short your favorite game 2, but on the long run he's absolutely right, and the reason Nintendo hasn't degenerated to be le cinematic slow burn edge of your seat movie experience Sony and Xbox have degraded to.

Attached: 1583982901043.jpg (640x618, 26.64K)

Nintendo cucks worship him, while he's the reason all nintendo franchises are held back and nintendo systems a always weak.

Miyamoto barely had any involvement in Mario Odyssey

Miyamoto was very hands off with Odyssey and even questioned a lot of the decisions made.

>Why make the same game over again when the first one already exists?
And yet, the state of the Star Fox series is entirely on his shoulders.

Miyamoto can definitely still put out and contribute towards quality stuff. But he's borderline more of a liability than an asset these days. He puts his fingers in too many pies and is without a doubt at least partially responsoble for fucking up titles in virtually every key franchise simce the Wii days, at least as many times as he has contributed to winning ideas.

>Do something different instead of pumping out sequels

THE HORROR

You fags are the biggest hypocrites in existence, whining about rehashing while demanding it at the same time

When I saw that Game Center CX special with Mario Maker where they invited Miyamoto, I could smell his ego coming through the camera when Arino was showing him the level he created. It was disgusting, and he made me think of a friend I used to know in the past that was always jealous of everything I did. He seems like that kind of asshole too.

how much did he have to do with botw? if that was all aonuma then I agree

Honestly him retiring or dying would be a good thing for nintendo and their younger devs, he wants too much to be in control

Star Fox Zero was not the same game again, and that's precisely why you fags hated it

NOOOO DADDY SAKURAI YOU CAN'T DIE UNTIL YOU ADD GENO TO SMASH

He was one of three producers for the game, and Kazumi Totaka was the director.

His hate boner for story of any kind is so absurd. I'm not looking for the last of us, just something that can get you intrigued into the world of that game.

based. MM was a shitty game

Miyamoto is a double edged sword, he can come up with some pretty brilliant shit, or he can destroy games completely because he just doesn't like them

The single most cringe fucking thing Nintendo has ever done. I am seriously at a loss for anything in the last 40 years as a company that even comes close to this
youtu.be/DM2DCflkA6s?t=71

Miyamoto has virtually nothing to do with hardware design.

Based. Twilight Princess was a shitty rehash of Ocarina and if they were going to do another rehash without an interesting structure change like MM or WW they were better off not bothering.

>Why make the same game over again

Because you can refine what worked about the previous game and axe or redesign what didn't. This is the key reason Miyamoto is such a hack, he will put the stomp on cool new shit that could be introduced to keep a game fresh while upending all of the stuff that did work in favor of retarded gimmicks nobody likes.

If he had a hate boner for story, he wouldn't have let Koizumi include Rosalina's storybook in Galaxy, and the Pikmin games wouldn't get more lore with each new mainline entry.

Attached: Koizumi on Rosalina's Storybook.jpg (2276x3122, 3.42M)

HOLY SHIT PAJEET THIS WAS CONFIDENTIAL.

he's just a typical japanese game producer, very set in his ways, unlikely to listen to feedback, probably nobody dares to openly challenge his ideas
Sometimes it works out fine

Mate, Link's Crossbow training isn't exactly the groundbreaker in innovation

It is literally a remake of 64... again. But with horrendously shitty controls. Three controls ruin the game beyond repair.

He's obviously insane. They also can't fire him so they have to wait for father time to end him.

Wasn't Odyssey all Koizumi? I don't think Miyamoto has actually had a big role in a game the entire Switch era.

Who said it was?

>Nintendo makes 4 NSMB games in like 10 years on 4 different systems
>HOLY SHIT REEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAASH

>Hears Nintendo didn't rehash something else
>WTF WHY DIDNT THEY FUCKING MIYAMOTO REEEEEEEEEEEEE

You fags just can't make up your minds, you literally don't know what you want.

>Choosing which game to use the Wii Zapper with proved to be difficult. Because the project was due to the ideas of The Legend of Zelda staff, Miyamoto wanted to be in The Legend of Zelda universe, although some staff argued that giving Link a gun would be too strange. Miyamoto proposed a Terminator-style plot about a time warp to the future, but the idea was vetoed immediately. Miyamoto enjoyed the Hidden Village from Twilight Princess's spaghetti western theme, and recreated it so people could enjoy it in an FPS setting. He also thought using the Wii Zapper in a western theme would make it even more fun. The development team eventually settled for giving Link a crossbow. Despite crossbows being unable to do a rapid-fire effect, Miyamoto felt that because it is just for fun, they did it anyway.[8]

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Link's_Crossbow_Training

probably the best thing he did in the last 2 generations

He, understandably, doesn't want to make the same game over and over again, like all game designers. The problem is that he doesn't really iterate, so every time some idea is created, he disregards it for the sequel.

>Guy goes behind your back to put in shit you hate
>Keeps it in there long enough that the game is ready to ship, can't take it out
>Ensure he doesn't do it again in the sequel

>He ruined Star Fox Zero
No, he didn't, you fucking retard. Shareholders did because they were the ones complaining about no games using the stupid tablet of the Wii U. SF0 was just the franchise chosen as a sacrifice.

you don't know what you're talking about

Koizumi was the producer, but the game was directed by Kenta Motokura, the character designer for Sunshine and director of 3D World.

Attached: Motokura.png (1053x646, 250.72K)

Wasn't Rosalina's story something Koizumi snuck into the game behind Miyamoto's back and partly why Miyamoto went anal on Mario character development afterwards?

>could’ve gotten Twilight Princess 2 following up on the cliffhanger ending where Link tries to find his way back to Midna
>forced to make a waggle game that no one wanted or bought

How is Miyamoto such a retard, yet also somehow responsible for massive unmatched genre-defining classics?

You’re a fucking goon of you think people hated Zero because it wasnt another SF64 copy. Its because thats basically what it was with SF2 gyro walker controls slapped in.

We just want a SF game that continues with the story. What happens with the team after Assault? Does a new team emerge? Is the aparoid threat really gone? What happened to Star Wolf?

So many things to do and Nintendo remakes 64 yet again.

*Ahem*
Pokémon

I remember some Japanese developer saying game devs peak at a certain age

Miyamoto's decline is actually kinda sad
>Wii era, riding high
>Makes Wii Music, people start to doubt him
>That incredibly embarassing E3 where he blamed Skyward Sword's shitty motion controls on "interference"
>Had a large amount of input on the hardware of the 3DS and Wii U, both of which had gimmicks that alienated developers
>By the Switch era you're forced out by suits and younger devs and have to design a theme park and work with the people who made Minions

That's true for most artists, too.

I think Shinji Mikami said that. He said game devs peak in their 30s and I think that might apply to other mediums as well.

It says right there in the interview that Koizumi showed the storybook directly to Miyamoto after finishing it. He only wrote the storybook in secret. He didn't sneak it in.

Anyone got the pic comparing his insistence on the Gamepad being worth it to Sakurai and Retro not using it and Aonuma even shitting on it?

i imagine it would have been mostly aonuma. the main thing about BotW though is the fact that many of the people on the staff were working on their first zelda game, and aonuma said he allowed those people to constantly challenge the conventions of zelda games.

>and partly why Miyamoto went anal on Mario character development afterwards?
That and paper mario, he's really anal about paper mario

Koizumi was the one responsible for Mario Odyssey, and also both Galaxy games. The last game Miyamoto was actually responsible for was Star Fox fucking Zero.

Attached: 1590553802957.jpg (700x392, 28.19K)

>We just want a SF game that continues with the story
speak for yourself. i want a starfox that meaningfully iterates and/or evolves the sf formula. zero was not it however.

>Star Fox Zero
I don't care about furfag shit.
>Paper Mario
This was always more on Intelligent Systems. When he told them to cool it with their garbage OCs like Pixls and Dimentio, and they took that to mean "Toads only" he should've slapped their shit and clarified further, but ultimately it was IS being fucking retarded, just like every single other release they've put out for the past 10 or so years.

are you sure about that?

wasn't the wii miyamoto's brain child or something?

>Because you can refine
And yet all that will amount to is the same game with slighly tweaked controls. Add boardroom pressure to just pump out sequels and cashgrab and you quickly get a pipeline shitting out Game 17 electric boogaloo, now 20% more woke.
No, the man is absolutely correct in standing his ground.

Not made by Nintendo, only most spinoffs are.

Star Fox is completely irrelevant in this day and age.

Besides, Kid Icarus did pretty much everything that series did but better. They don’t need 3 rail shooter IPS.

No, that's just a myth that comes from misinterpretation of that one interview that Wired did with Koizumi shortly after Galaxy's release. The Nintendo Power interview confirms that Miyamoto knew it would be going into the game.

>SF0
He murdered my boy... all it needed was a patch to disable gyroshit and play classically. I fucking hate it.

He also cockblocked everything out of being an RPG and then Tanabe reinforced it for every subsequent game even when Miyamoto himself didn't like the Sticker Star formula

Absolutely fucking retarded. I am without words

Attached: 1604928123180.png (473x471, 176.35K)

I really do think part of Miyamoto's hatred of unique Mario characters has less to do with Western-developed characters and more to do with how the West liked all of the random Japan-made spinoffs like PM and M&L "too" much. I can't imagine Miyamoto really liked TTYD being flown by NoA as basically a mainline Mario game back in the day, or M&L and it getting so much promotion.

>3
KI, SF, and..?

My bad, I guess what I meant to say was it would be nice to get a game that keeps the general rail shooter gameplay but advances the story a bit. Any gameplay addition is a plus but I dont want another 64

Star Fox has to evolve if it wants to continue. I say they should turn it into Nintendo's Mass Effect. Some space exploration, goofing off on The Great Fox with your buddies, high octane action both in space and on land. People would eat it up.

>they took that to mean "Toads only" he should've slapped their shit and clarified further, but ultimately it was IS being fucking retarded
They cannot take any Mario character and modify it at all. You couldn't have the first ten minutes of Paper Mario 64 in a new Paper Mario game. They also can't create characters that are new that look like they could fit in a regular Mario game. The mandates put IS in a position where it is impossible to do anything creative or tell a story that matters or has weight. Of course they could still make the gameplay not shit but that's another story.

Yeah, Miyamoto explicitly said the sticker shit was even worse than just straight rehashing. So how is it his fault that IS decided to keep it anyways?

*ahem*
Gamefreak

>I really do think part of Miyamoto's hatred of unique Mario characters
He doesn't have a hatred of them he just thought that SPM had too many.
