What was I missing with this game, Zig Forums? It seems like most people absolutely love it and with many considering it From's best. DaS and BB are both in my top 10 vidya of all time, but I found myself pretty underwhelmed with it and would only place it over DaS2 and DaS3. Should I replay it?
What was I missing with this game, Zig Forums...
It's much more of an action game, it has basically no RPG elements. A lot of people who enjoy Souls games are ultimately RPG fans and couldn't into Sekiro for that reason.
Also the main charm of the Souls games is the ambiance, exploration, and weird secrets, not the "press O to dodge" combat. Sekiro leaned way too hard into that.
the souls combat is getting boring bro
sekiro combat is amazing
>DaS and BB are both in my top 10 vidya of all time
That's the problem.
Sekiro it's not a Souls game, if you play it expecting another Souls, you will end up hating the game.
Play it like a separate action game with stealth elements.
>Also the main charm of the Souls games is the ambiance, exploration, and weird secrets
This is what I was mostly missing from it, I think. I don't really care about the RPG aspect, since I end up playing all the Souls games the same way anyways. This is why Fountainhead was my favorite part of the game.
>What was I missing with this game, Zig Forums?
The combat needed some polishing, namely multiple combat arts available on the spot, more uses to some tools as well as some method to encourage the player to experiment with them, being able to swap ninjutsus on the fly and the Mortal Blade being a unique weapon with its own arts (could have a high risk/high reward aspect like unsheathing it would act as a resurrection and block the other nodes).
That said, it's still a very enjoyable game. I'm replaying it at the moment, just started the Palace.
this game was actually hard so most souls fags were immediately turned off.
being trained to i-frame dodge roll everything has its downsides
This.
It's not a Souls game.
As simple as it is, Nightjar reversal will never not be cool.
Without tell us more about why you didn’t like it, it’s kind of hard to recommend a replay. All I’ll say is don’t treat it like a schools game because it’s not one. It’s not even an ARPG.
The presentation and level design is fantastic.
Characters are good, and the bosses are well designed.
The only thing I found lacking in this game was the combat system
I'm not a fan of souls games, and I found sekiro's combat to be way more engaging and fun.
Sekiro is strange for me, I can technically point out a lot of areas for improvement, but in practice I don't actually care because I'm having a blast anyway. It's my favorite of From's games behind DaS1, another game where I can readily point out issues (though in that case I would sincerely like them changed).
I like it but I suck balls so I'm mixed between spending the time to get gud or just not picking it back up. Been fighting genichiro for like 5 months
my bro
Is an action game primarily but still has too many Souls elements holding it back, leaving it as a sort of in between. It has open world, stealth, climbing, quests and exploration in addition to the core action approach. Said action is also lacking and leaves you wanting more. Sekiro is good but it can't decide what it wants to be. More weapons, arts and better use of tools would go a long way but then the issue of having to pause to switch them constantly would get very old.
have you tried using firecrackers
also run away when he does his long 9 hit combo
Honestly, after I learned that the parry window is 30 frames the game became alot easier for me. So if parrying attacks is your problem and you're trying to be as precise as possible just know it's not as strict as you think. The frames however do decrease if you mash the block/parry button like a retard, I'd only recommend doing that after the first hit of an enemies rush.
I don't want to use fire crackers because it feels like I'm cheating
maybe try making a new fresh playthrough from the beginning, and take your time learning how to play
Some user suggested this tactic and it actually helped me a lot
i almost wish i was stuck at genichiro again. i miss not being great at the game, earning every victory by the skin of my teeth.
have you fought lady butterfly? The extra attack power she gives you will make the genichiro fight much more manageable
So if I prefer dmc to souls I'l probably like it?
I've only completed the first Dark Souls and the combat certainly felt just ok if not just passable.
Any good way to farm XP? I'm only missing the get all skills achievement and it's tedius as fuck to get skill points.
Do you level up or wear armour in Souls? That's cheating too, in fact using a weapon and dodging is cheating too. Stop being a faggot. Wolf is a shinobi, use your tools and arts.
>I don't want to use [intended mechanic] because it feels like I'm cheating
Slow as hell but use the staircase idol in the Outskirts in endgame, you can get a large amount of Red Guards by surprise.
Yeah I fuckin whipped lady butterfly's ass
>A shinobi would know the difference between honor and victory.
I can only speak for myself, but I hated all the Souls games, love DMC and Bayonetta, and I think Sekiro is a masterpiece.
So probably yes.
You're a shinobi for fuck's sake, make your dad proud and cheat.
>make your dad proud
Forsake the Iron Code, protect Kuro
It's not a Souls game, It's a tenchu-like.
NG+
one of the main early items the game gives you is ash you throw in an enemy's eyes like a cartoon villain, i don't know how people don't get "fuck honor" is the name of the game.
>using Items for any fight
>ever
I see you over there spamming Holy Waters you D-Rank coward
Divine Confetti gets a pass in the fights where it is essentially mandatory
There's no shame in using firecrackers, you're a ninja not some honorabu warrior
And literally everyone used firecrackers on Zig Forums when the game came out
But if you still don't to use firecrackers, then maybe I can guide you towards 3 prayer beads that you may have missed.
The first one is inside ashina castle, in that big blue room with those blue samurais. There's an armor stand at the end of the room, break it will reveal a wall with a white body outline. Press your body against said wall and you should find a secret room where you can loot a prayer bead.
The second one is in Hirata estate, similar to the first one in terms that this one is also located at a secret room. The room itself is located inside that big building just before the lady butterfly boss.
Look around inside the house and you should spot a wooden wall with a white body outline, press yourself against it and it should reveal a secret room.
The third one is a little bit easier to find, it requires a bit of acrobatics, but no boss fight, at least. From the Ashina Castle Gate Idol, after you beat Gyoubu Oniwa, go all the way across the empty battlefield and get up the stairs. Make a turn and enter the building where that masked guy (that definitely isn't familiar at all) From there, you're gonna want to grapple your way up to the attic.
The first one shows up on the right side, and once you're in there, look for a broken wooden pillar with the second grapple point. You'll be facing another broken one, jump there and grab from the ledge. Start walking facing the opposite side from the crack of the wooden surface, and you'll see a crack in the rooftop. Jump, grab, and you'll be in the attic.
It's nothing like Tenchu, though.
