She is unironically correct. I stopped backlogging years ago.
If I don't get the urge to complete it, then I don't anymore.

>Why are we wasting out time on games
Should've ended the header there and been a piece about starting families and making babies. Modern men are so cucked.

honestly, yes.

i mean ffs the amount of games i have on my switch alone that are "good" but i never fucking touch is like 8 to 1.

No, she sounds like a casual roastie who has never accomplished anything in her life without checking her phone.

yes.
backlogs are the entire reason shitty games continue to get made (and are successful)
people buy shit, keep it on their backlogs forever, get around to FORCING themselves to play it and repeat

Backlog isn't games you've dropped, it's games you didn't play yet even though you've been planning to. Dumb bitch didn't even understand what she was supposed to talk about

I'm not reading the article but she is based off headline alone. Playing games solely for "backlog" purposes and not for fun/enjoyment is pure stupidity. Games aren't jobs, and even if you spent money on a game you didn't like, finishing it and giving it even more hours of your life of misery isn't helping.

yeah, i never finish any games

Thought games aren't supposed to be fun, but "thought-provoking."

She's Jewish

Not neccesarilly, it depends why it's in your backlog in the first place and what's actually preventing you from wanting to play it. If a game isn't interesting to me in the first place why is it in my backlog?

she looks like a jew, so I will do the opposite of what she says

>Playing games solely for "backlog" purposes and not for fun/enjoyment
The fuck does that mean. You haven't played your backlog yet, you don't know if it's fun. If it doesn't look like it's fun why is it in your backlog

The only reason she's pushing for this is so you buy new games instead of finishing the ones you have.

I don't think there's anything wrong with having a list of games you haven' gotten around to yet but she's completely right about forcing yourself to finish a game you find boring is a waste of time. It'll also accelerate burnout with the genre.

Yeah actually right, i keep both doom games on my hard drive knowing i have no interest in finishing them.

>ITT: zoomers try to justify the fact that they haven't played the classics

She can play with my frontlog.

What the fuck are you going on about?

Why are you on a video game forum?

Yes, just consume and don't even enjoy what you already have. Keep spending.

this

I have met and talked to many people, even in my personal life that force themselves through games only because they bought it, and deny themselves games they want to play because "they need to work on the backlog". Obviously if your backlog is just games you haven't played but will it's different, but I've seen plenty of people try to finish stuff they dislike

>gamesradar.com/we-dont-use-the-word-fun-says-the-last-of-us-2-director-neil-druckmann/

A backlog isn't just for old games you retard.

Do people actually force themselves through shitty games?
I had Deus Ex IW on my backlog but dropped that shit an hour in and moved on.

How is that in any way related to the article in question schizo?

what the fuck is backlog?

archive.is/wip/foWUV

Don't give medium your clicks.

You can play the classics without ever having a backlog :S

But I don't have shit games on my backlog.

I mean it kind of made sense back in older console game days where most people didn't have a plethora of games and you sort of had to make due. But with so many indie games, game studios, sales, bundles, there's hardly a reason to dedicate time to a game you're not enjoying. That being said of course you need to know you're not enjoying it first and with 0 minutes played how can you decide that, and if you can why is it in your backlog.

>spending money on video games
no thanks

>Video games are supposed to be fun
Literally the first fucking line you illiterate retard.

He's implying that there are games worth playing that aren't meant to be fun to play, but thought provoking instead. I don't really like games that profess to be that, but you're retarded for not understanding.

They do. It might be because of OCD preventing them from leaving something unfinished, or it might be buyers remorse trying to convince themselves that they are having fun. Or maybe they have become so jaded that playing games has just become an act of going through the motions rather than something that brings them actual enjoyment.

absolutely, 100% right
there's absolutely no reason to play something if it isn't fun or otherwise entertaining and engaging

>tfw to lazy to play video games
This year I completed Doom (2016), Prey, Alien Isolation and Yoshi's Island and I enjoyed all of them but I still have a hard time actually opening a game

Attached: fatdog.jpg (1280x960, 182.13K)

What do you think you stupid fucking retard?

Bitch doesn't even know what a backlog is.

Because I wasted the best years of my life playing video games instead of getting laid

She is right but for the wrong reasons.

I wouldn't say the beginning of an in-depth rpg is fun or the start of a strategy game is either. It's about getting to a point where all the game mechanics come together to create a good experience.

Just looked up the article and here is an excerpt:
>Playing your backlog is no different. Play it or don’t play it. It won’t matter to anyone but your inner gamer-conscience. But, hey, maybe there are some real gems buried there — an overlooked indie, a blood-pumping beat-em-up. It might just be worth the spelunking! Or maybe it won’t. You can always play another hour of Civilization instead.

She also talks about the "300+ hours of Skyrim" she has played instead of Peggle 2. Everytime women claim to be "hardcore" gamers it's always 300+ hours of Skyrim. I get that it's an entry level title but I have met multiple women that use this particular game for their claim to fame.

sort of?
if its a game you picked up cheap and tried, didn't like it, and dropped it then yeah leave it in the trash unless you feel suddenly in the mood for whatever kind of game it was.
if you've bought it and never played it at all, at least give it a shot

The sooner boomers stop buying games they don't touch, the quicker they'll realise that they fell out of love with gaming years ago.

>woman
>turns out she doesn't care about videogames and only wrrites for attention while pontificating
WOW

Yes and no. Some games in the backlog are in there due to bad decision making. Others are ones I mean to but my attention span hasnt allowed yet(which is on me). Ive come back to games and finished them a lot more than ever now. But I try and make it a conscious choice of when I buy this game to ask will it be worth the time and fun invested or not. I've also accepted the fact that the neet life is over for me time spent can be sacred and Im more casual that only occasionally likes challenges makes the process easier.

Attached: LDmphrf.png (464x567, 158.61K)

What kind of ADHD retard feels the need to check their phone while playing a game? I have literally NEVER done this, I even mute all my group chats. Even the worst fucking games imaginable haven't made me glimpse at the goddamn phone. Holy shit take ritalin

>a different article on a different website written by a different person is related
kill yourself
That isn't at all what he's saying. He's trying to complain about game journos because one said games are supposed to be fun while others have said that games aren't supposed to be fun while they defended trash like TLoU2. He's a schizo.

I don't have a backlog because I don't buy every single thing I see on steam like you tards do.
>look how cheap this is I MUST have it!

How the fuck do people develop backlogs, why would you buy a game you don’t want to play?

Here's the archive version so when this get's reposted again without using the archive link you'll know that she's actually shilling her own articles here.

LOL, yeah, I never thought I'd say this, but I think the female game journalist is right this time, only an eternal european NEET could possibly play every single decent game (if a decent game is 6/10 or 7/10 and above) there are just too many fucking games, I've got things like Prey, Metro Exodus, Torment:Tides of Numenera etc, really great games, but it's going to take me fucking ages to get around to them, I still have Greedfall and Vampyre and Wasteland 2 and Wasteland 3, Pathologic 2 and etc etc etc this list endlessly drags on as I get older and learn more about games

Because it's not at the bottom of their Overton window, it's at the top

Like how Kate Upton is the fattest woman I would fuck, but Rebel Wilson is the skinniest woman Pierce Brosnan would fuck

yes

I agree. Her premise is true but the article actually reads like someone trying to justify not wanting to leave their comfort zone.

>female gamer journo opinion
No

So your solution is to continue wasting time

>implying there's nothing more meaningful than getting laid

>How the fuck do people develop backlogs
By buying games on sale when you're playing another game at the moment.
Not a difficult concept

Bundles and sales mostly. I'm happy to pick up a game I'm interested in for dirt cheap even with the understanding I might not play it for another decade.

>why would you buy a game you don’t want to play?

Attached: download.png (225x225, 5.04K)

But the games in my backlog are there because I don't have enough time, not because I don't find them fun.

The only reason I have a backlog is because I have a new comp coming in. Once that finishes, i'm gonna be up to my armpits in vidya.

I kept Hollow Knight in my library with 8 hours on record for one or two years without touching it before picking it up and putting in another 77 hours, and I enjoyed more than any other game in ages. This bitch is stupid as fuck.

>Throw dedication out the window
>Never hold yourself to any standards
>Never follow through with things you told yourself you would
>If the cover doesn't look interesting why bother playing the game?
>It's ok to frivolously waste money on things you'll never even bother with
Typical female-brained behavior. Nothing new here.

And you never end up having any questions when you end up with 100$ of games your would never dream of playing?

then why haven't you played them ?

>she
already wrong

No because for example I started playing Catherine and wasn't getting into it in the first few hours but I came back to it after months and gave it another chance while enjoying it a lot.

Women can't sit through a movie without looking at their phones, why would you listen to them about this? The only game I regret going back to finish was FFXIII-2 because it's a massive pile of shit.

I'd rather have too much than too little. The people who just float from new major release to new major release and only get more and more cynical about videogames when those releases end up being disappointing sounds like a really sad way to experience videogames.

>fucked a girl in the ass for the first time
>didn't even have any of the bathroom-related catastrophes thankfully, it was just like fucking a pussy except lame because only the first inch had any friction
>ended up having to pull almost all the way out and seesaw my tip in her sphincter to get off
Why do people pretend to like anal

Attached: wjdk.gif (250x251, 998.3K)

Tbh I thought my backlog was going to be piss easy, until I discovered all these classic Isometric CRPG's I've never played before are on console now

> YO DAWG LOOK AT THIS HEADLINE AREN'T YOU OUTRAGED?

I agree but the real problem here is how to prevent people from buying games mindlessly?

Attached: vlcsnap-2020-10-28-20h06m26s805.png (1280x738, 750.79K)

she needs to show tits or gtfo tb.h

judging by this thread, its about the avatar/name rather than the headline LOL

>woman
cringe and dropped

Attached: yikes pepe.png (399x322, 41.72K)

Of course not. If the game is in your backlog, that's precisely because it hold your interest.

She misunderstood what a backlog is for so no she's wrong and stupid.

Duct tape her pussy next time

That's the fundamental flaw in her "reasoning" here. Backlogs are of games you want to play but haven't had the time yet. Women are flighty, finicky children who's minds change from one month to the next which is why they can't actually grasp the concept of having a backlog; they've already lost interest in everything they purchased before the previous month and fluttered onto the next big memeshit e.g. last month it was Fall Guys and now it's Among Us, and they don't even register video games that existed before then.

This.

>getting laid is meaningful
unless your pumping out babies with your wife no it isn't degenerate, its just as futile as video games, maybe even more so

Yes and also no.

On the one hand, never bother to beat a game that you dislike just because you wasted money on owning it. Time is more valuable than money, I dont care how broke you are, time is the more valuable commodity.

On the other hand there are fuckloads of mental conditions that make it hard to dedicate yourself to prolonged tasks, even tasks you enjoy. So difficulty getting through a game does not actually correlate to many peoples enjoyment of said games.

Personally I have really bad ADD and I usually either take several months working through any media (games, shows, books, not really movies though cause they're so snappy) except every once and a while a game or book or show will have some indeterminable "it" factor that causes me to blast through in the shortest amount of time physically possible.
Surprisingly, while I generally have positive opinions of almost all of the "it" factor games I encounter, many slow burns that I took several months to get through I would rate just as highly as the games that held my attention for a consecutive period of time. Sometimes I keep bouncing off of media until suddenly it clicks with me and I marathon it straight, too, so some of those slow burns don't stay that way.

There's no a one size fits all solution, by no means play a game that's actively making you have a bad time but it's very likely soldiering through a game in your backlog will be worth it for you depending on the type of person you are. I have a very large backlog but I also have a long list of permanently shelved games that I just disliked
