Should I play RE7?

Should I play RE7?
I'm new to the series but I liked 4 for years. I liked Remake that I played a few years ago and I recently really enjoyed RE2 Remake

7 looks fun too. is it worth a 20$?

It starts a 70, then jumps to a 91, then drops down to a 59 for the rest of the game.

It's worth it for the clown puzzle.

Its breddy gud if you like the atmosphere and struggling for enough resources to keep up. Not too long too should only take about 10 hours or the base game but still worth a relay or two. Never tried the dlc

it's worth 1 playthrough, you decide if that's worth $20

it's not great, but definitely worth a playthrough.

It's the scariest game of all time if you play in VR

sounds like a good romp. I'm going to buy it now wish me luck

if you want the game to look amazing, turn brightness to minimum. it does wonders for making the game look realistic. hope you have fun

yeah it's a great game, has the RE essence and also saved the RE franchise

Yeah 7 got me back into the series after I felt 6 kind of killed it for a while.
Also RE2 Remake is one of the best games ever made. and we kind of owe 7 for that in a small way. Sure hope Village is good.

The beginning is great, then the house opens up and it becomes amazing, then it game suddenly closes up again, becomes linear and then it's just downhill from there. It starts at a 70, jumps to a 90 then dips to 50 for the rest of the game. Full of miss opportunities

I though RE would suck in first person but couldn't be more wrong
Prepare to be pissed as fuck during a chainsaw fight sorry for the spoilers but jeez

I've played through 6 three times since it's been out. each of the replays I thought maybe I might come around to it a bit more, but nope. it just cements my opinion that it's shit even more.

The chainsaw duel was rad man.

REMake2 was amazing. I hope Village has a Mr.X esque character. Mr. X was the highlight of RE2, far more than I think they expected him to be.

The last 30% of it was weak but the final boss and the story coming together made up for it. The linearity didn't hurt it imo because it still made you think
Took me like 7 tries but was incredibly satisfying

No way, the last 60% is weak. Anything after the first house, the spider lady fight is also cool but anything after that is terrible. Way too linear, and when it opens back up it happens on one of the most boring areas.

Dude most RE games are pretty linear other than the backtracking

RE8 is going to have some spooky witch bitch be the stalker. very interested seeing what she'll be like. hope she's way better then Nemesis

Yeah it's great. Basement area scared the hell out of me. Don't be a pussy and make sure you play with the correct gamma setting!

The backtracking is super important to making the game feel alive. Also yes most of the time there is only one place to go but the area itself is still open enough that it requires exploration. Compare RE1 to RE7, RE1 requires the player to find their own way even when there is only one answer.

That's not a RE game. Resident Evil has pre rendered backgrounds and tank controls with a 3rd person perspective.

The ending parts weren't ruined by the linearity per say, but more the fact that they crammed the stupid evil little girl shit with flashbacks and terrible excuse for a final boss. I was excited to use the PP-14 but they interrupted all the sections with the flashbacks. Plus the boat had no atmosphere. They should have had a sea monster and not the lame little girl.

Nah bro. 7 is an RE game. so is RE4 and RE2 Remake.

Should just watch the movies instead, they're better in every conceivable way

There is way too many linear parts, towards the end the game feels like an FPS game. Also the enemy variety is trash. Every enemy is just a variation on the first one.

Fuck off Paul W

Pussy

I personally love it. Could've been better but it's better than R3make.

Yeah thats true, the true form of the little girl should have been an aquatic bipedal tentancle monster that would follow you around the ship.

What's PP-14 ?

Cope.

The Ship was the worst, what a shitty idea to have you play as a new character just to shove in backstory, super lame. I really hope RE8 has a stronger sense of area harmony, because RE7 just felt like setpieces at some point
