Cloud easily, and I say this as a Zeldafag
summons and limit breaks are inherently more busted than anything Link can dish out

Cloud has magic and sci fi shit, Link at most is a sub-boss to Cloud

I love Zelda but Link would lose, the appealing thing about the series is that Link is the underdog in almost all situations, he's never egregiously powerful, he's just a normal swordsman with some magic and some gadgets

Cloud's power level is way higher than Link's. Nigger can use insanely powerful magic and is way more mobile/agile.
The better question is, which one would top?

Link because magic plot armor

Most protagonists have plot armor (including Cloud), and Link's plot armor really only applies to defeating evil (in particular Ganon), Cloud is not evil so it doesn't apply.

That's a tough one to call honestly. Link's strength is hardly consistent between all the different versions.

Death Battle at the time made an amalgamate so that call really cannot be trusted.

It's plot armor that actually exists in the game and it's going to protect him from anything trying to kill him

Any average Link would probably lose to endgame Cloud, but peak Link could probably scratch out a win against Cloud.

These were always my favourite about smash dlc, seeing each company's top artist draw their and other nintendo characters Duke it out. Would have loved to see this in ultimate.

fans of VII (one game) are more vocal and passionate than a fanbase with 50+ games. that's how much staying power VII has and what a powerful legacy it has.

VII is only beloved because it was the first major Playstation exclusive. VII fans never really moved onto RPGs.

Sort of like how Witcher fans never played any other games.
