Make sure to take it apart at some point, clean it, and reapply thermal paste. I did that when I was a teenager and it's ran quietly ever sense. Used to sound an airplane before hand.

Yeah it was great mine died though, I tried to fix it by replacing the disc drive and re-doing the heatsink and it still would stop loading games after 10 - 15 minutes of play.
For instance in Dark Souls it would play fine for a while then textures in the level would stop loading and I'd end up basically walking through the level boundaries into nothingness and the game would freeze, I thought it was a disc drive issue but I have no idea what else could be causing it.

Slim model is simply better because of it. Buying a PS2 is cheap af nowadays too. PS3's PS2 emulation wasn't really that good. PS3 Slim however is one of the best consoles ever made.

an easy fix would have been decreasing fan rpm at a linear rate after shutdown to prevent the GPU solder temp from rising beyond the max operating temperature
the instant cooling then caused cracks in the solder that caused current to drop in the GPU/CPU when turned on the next time
in short, the solder formula used by microsoft and sony were shit

A01 and B01 had PS2 hardware in it. Backwards compatibility wasn't done through software emulation. It had the Emotion Engine on the board.
This dude says he has a CECHC03 PS3. That's not a backwards compatible PS3. This came out several months after the North American and Japanese launch. He even says that himself in his video. You literally proved yourself wrong.

I have no idea, mine still powers on, but it just stops playing games after 10 - 15 minutes, I though it was the disc drive or heatsink and replaced / redid those and I still get the same loading issues after 10 or so minutes so I have no idea what the actual problem is with it.
