Thing is miles morales is basically a tokenized Peter Parker when it all comes down to it, it fails because Peter Parker is Spiderman it's completely synonymous at this point.
Is been synonymous since decades and is a character that is so popular you can't tokenize him and replace him when you think of Spiderman is always going to be Peter.
I may be a hispano spic, but I simply cannot tolerate Morales as a character because he was made for the sole purpose of being a black spiderman so blacks can relate to and that is what Bendis said when he created it.

The PS4 game and Spider-Verse have made Miles more popular, but one message I hated from at least Spider-Verse was the idea that anyone could be Spider-Man. That's different from "Anyone can be a hero", which I'd say is true. But Spider-Man is Peter's expression of being a hero. Putting that onto Miles like Marvel seem intent on doing is distasteful at best

What about Miguel, he was able to stand on his own. I'm guessing the setting is what matters here. Spiderman 2099 is removed far enough from the main setting that you can accept it as a successor, while Miles Morales is literally the same time, same city, same villains, same everything, but HE BLACK.
