If you are hyped for Cyberpunk 2077, you are not a true fan of the Cyberpunk genre. RUINER and Ghostrunner give you the definitive Cyberpunk experience. They don't have to have "Cyberpunk" in their name, because their nature, their being, confirms them to be Cyberpunk. Cyberpunk 2077 on the other hand isn't a true Cyberpunk game, that is why it has "Cyberpunk" in its name, to lure in the low IQ masses, a wolf in sheep's clothing.

It is very fun, a diamond in the rough, it needs a sequel that improves and expands on what RUINER is, but unfortunately, Reikon Games have been working on a co-op project for now, maybe after that we get RUINER 2.

Cyberpunk is based centrally around the theme of "high tech, low life", the juxtaposition of technology and social class. Cyberpunk works have also featured minor themes such as the limits of human consciousness, the consequences of transhumanism, governmental and corporate oppression, and whether machines/AI can truly live. It isn't just a super restricted genre that has to fulfill a very limited range of checkboxes, and neither is it just an aesthetic.
