At this point it would be more unpredictable/subversive if the Shadowlands factions like Bastion were actually good and not blatantly "Le angelic pure angels that are definitely not secretly evil". I don't think Blizzard has ever written anything without involving corruption or good entities/groups only being a facade.
Seems better than BFA but underwhelming. XIV will probably continue to gain ground.

Zig Forums has been autistic about a lot of dumb shit but the wow posting is borderline stockholm syndrome tier. maybe 5-10% of people talking about it even play the game anymore while the rest are seething about changes to a game they haven't played in ages and will admit as much if asked. and the thing is it's not like it's just one or two threads a month it's pretty much a daily thing even discounting major events like today

the autistic screeching over flynn and shaw is a good example, it's one thing to obsess over changes in game over basic gameplay but we had a good week or two of people seething about a shitty novel and two irrelevant characters. in fact the only reason I even heard about it is from the nonstop posting that happened on here when it happened

It's nu-Wow made by Activision-Blizzard.
The whole concept is stupid, the gameplay is stale and the writing is just brain dead.
I don't want to go to the Shadowlands, I have no motivation to do so as a character. I don't care about Anduin, I don't care about Jaina, Baine, Thrall. We don't need them for anything. The prepatch was so poorly done the threat of more scourge isn't even a motivator. Then you have the lazy reuse of assets for virtually everything in Shadowlands which really diminishes the concept of traveling to another dimension. The Shadowlands is the afterlife for THE WHOLE UNIVERSE but for whatever reason the place looks like Azeroth. It's also really small, one of the smallest expansions size-wise. I'm so fucking sick of the same questing and combat, it's exhausting. You don't even get to quest to 60 with covenant abilities since you can't join one until level 60. Finally the writing, the literal writing not "ideas" is a total mess. There is actual dialogue voice acted that contradicts lore you learn about minutes prior. "Place something from Azeroth on this table to make a portal". You put a half of the Helm of Domination on the table but the Helm was made IN THE MAW. The Arbiter decides where souls go, then the FIRST KYRIAN YOU MEET says THEY DECIDE WHAT SOULS GO TO THE ARBITER. LITERALLY SECONDS AFTER YOU GET TO BASTION.

To be fair, they also constantly bring back legacy characters to ruin them, such as Mary Sylvanas casually humiliating the Lich King and breaking his helmet.
Boring, will be a slog for alts too. No scaling in new zones too. I am almost 57 in Maldraxxus and the mobs are still 54. No choice in path either. The story is dumb once you think of it. The afterlife in WoW is a hellscape. You are trated no different than the legion did. Once you die as a tauren you are sent to Bastion to have your memories drained and reprogrammed to be a blue human. The life/memories you had become anima to power SL. If you were a bad Cow you might go to The Maw or Get more or less punished in the rest. Maldraxxus was more fun so far. You can see what the story arc will be in the future:
TL;DR:
Silvanas will be the one to break your cursed fate in SL to be a cog in a machine and destroy the old order in SL. She will be the one to help bring you freedom from the hellscape of the afterlife.

The helm was made by Ner'zhul on Azeroth, then they ret-conned it so it was made by several others and now it's from the Shadowlands, as well as Frostmourne. Maybe Blizz remembered how much a dirty they did Ner'zhul and have reversed the ret-con, but it's more likely as you point out: they don't care enough to make things seconds apart consistent.

None of the stories are original or interesting, same for the new lore. I feel 0 connection to its denizens who decided to dump their problems on me. Poe did a better job fleshing out their characters in heist and there's like, what, 100? 200 lines of dialogue ?

Literally the first thing you see when you enter their zone is a bunch of these slave race things on their knees washing the floor by hand. It stands out right away as obviously "problematic" in a way that should be really obvious.
Pretty weird that they did it anyway. It's almost like none of them actually care about any of these "woke" ideals they pretend to stand for and are actually just aping whatever random memes they read on twitter, and since they never saw any memes about how creating a literal slave race of subservient subhumans to happily do all your manual labour for you like something straight out of babby's first hellish dystopia 101, it never occurred to them that that would be "problematic".
