It appeals to people with depression because it teaches perseverance in the face of insurmountable adversity
Also the games are fun and combat feels nice and has some weight to it

i just like a challenge bro

A mix of being a fantastic, unusual game and being the first videogame for most of the board's community.

I really liked the trilogy and would lie If I told you that they aren't some of my favorite games ever, but I had no trouble moving on because I've been playing videogames since 1997 and will keep doing so as long as my body allows me.

It's fun. And as far as DeS, DS and Bb unpozzed.

It feels like what those old action adventure games were supposed to be with more technology
No story bullshit
Challenging
Mysterious

>teaches perseverance in the face of insurmountable adversity
Literally any Zig Forums thread about fighting games teaches me they don't actually like that.

It appeals to a wide variety of anons that are likely to browse Zig Forums while being a beacon for fags into harcore gaymen in the early 10s.

Fighting against an uncaring game world with clear and steady rules that can be learnt appeals to autists
Fighting games are extremely fast paced and have an insanely high skill ceiling, also can't be beaten by grinding much
For example, I've got thousands of hours in Souls games but could never get into fighting games, tried with GG, BB, DBZ Fighterz and Tekken 7 and the amount of shit to learn compared to how much content you get turns me off the games pretty fast

OP here, i didn't realize the souls community was based
thanks for your answers

Because after never touching a game I bought and 100%ed Dark Souls, to show thst I'm a real gamer, and haven't touched other games since

Babby's first "deep" game

Rare case of a modern game actually hitting a peak in the genre instead of incremental increase or a plateau.

Because it's fun.

On another note why does the game censor knight? i want to make a paladin class fucking annoying

It's japanese and it's good.

Retards fell for the "you'll be so hardcore if you play this" meme.

engaging gameplay with an interesting setting and unique mechanics
also the armor and weapon designs are solid

user I still got the prepare to die edition on pc. Should I get the remaster instead or is it one of these dreaded ports?

Because they are pure games that are able to marry narrative/cinematics with gameplay.
Look at the way they handle tutorials. They use the note system to teach you the controls. The note system isnt something that is just made for the tutorials though it's a genuine gameplay mechanic you will be using throughout the game, and they are integrated integrated to the story. The notes have an in-world explanation. To top it all off the notes are optional meaning if you're an experienced player or is replaying the game you can just skip the tutorials.
There are no games that put this much thought into even a single element.

easily accessible and easy to form an opinion on, combined with lots of ambiguity in the design of the games
this means there's an endless amount of minutia for Zig Forums to argue over their subjective preferences

>knight
>nig

>cunt is fine

Because they think Japanese game = good and artificial difficulty = good

the contrarian's skyrim
they're both fucking boring

Because it has soul

Because its the perfect series in terms of starting shitposts

>journalists hate this game because.
>zoomers hate this game because
>west vs east
>asian vs white game design
>hating on people who try too hard in the game
>hating on people don't try enough at the game
>filtered by X threads

Name one other game that can provide this much Zig Forums content

It's the closest the humankind has got a "perfect game". All the customization and openness let's you play the game in myriad of different ways, depending on your preferences. You can play it as a regular fantasy rpg, you can design and roleplay your favorite anime character, you can tryhard against other people online, you can be a cunt and grief others through invasion, your can use a zwei and play the story mode and enjoy the scenery and the setting, you can test yourself with challenge runs etc. Game just appeals to so many people because of how content-rich it is, and the serviceable combat ensures people will have fun no matter how they choose to play it.

Japanese
on pc
easy ego boost because it's "hard" but not multiplayer so you can pretend to be good without anyone actually being able to challenge you (pvp is a literal joke, play a fighting game you fucking losers)

>calls others losers
>suggests playing a fighting game

Because it's fun. Souls threads fell off a fucking cliff after it was released on PC. They used to be so comfy

It's a game that allows casuals to act like they're hardcore.
