All my old video games like WoW and various other PC games have done to absolute shit I have no interest in console games - I have no games to fall back on
I dont have any interest in new modern games which are built for boomers with minimal time, or for zoomers with limited attention span, and to top it off, they're full real world political shit that im trying to escape from.
Im so fucking bored. I can work and lift weights so much. Theres nothing to do besides scroll the internet or watching shitty youtube videos. I just want to be able to play games again and enjoy them and have hours and hours go by where Im immersed in them.
I feel like I get the "creation" fulfillment through lifting weights and good nutrition, as it makes my body morph into certain ways, as well as getting it from my job.
The problem is I dont enjoy any consooming there is to be consoomed in this timeline, especially for the last 5-8 years.
I use to love consooming in the 1990s, 2000s, and early 2010s. Since around the Mid 2010s consooming has been absolutely trash, because its all trash now. Everything is made for the average person, its all made to be balanced, its all made for e-sports, I just want to go back to the 2000s where games were made for FUN, not for being some kind of min-maxed balanced esport shit

play games with friends. If you don't have any friends, you'll have to go through the painstaking process of finding some online. You have about a 1/10000 chance of finding a decent person through a game's match making system, but it's possible. Public discord lobbies are also a decent spot as well. Much higher chance of finding people to play with, the downside being it's a higher chance of tryhards as well
I am pretty much in the same spot as you. 30+, most vidya just doesn't tickle my fancy anymore. What surprised me is that vidya I normally hate is actually fun when you play it with people you like to be around. When I opened myself up to playing shit I would normally never touch with a 10 foot pole (so I could play with friends), it transformed my enjoyment of video games
I've been playing Deep Rock Galactic for a bit. It's co-op, so by default people are trying to work together and that means a higher chance of good people. I suck at it, but it doesn't matter. All of us that play it are just being idiotic together and laughing our asses off. Even the randos that fill our public lobbies join in on the fun

Nah, it wasn't. I always get the same feeling with WoW and some other mmos then I go back playing them and just notice they're not as good. What made them good back then was the novelty and most likely the friends, those games were a legit way of meeting new people before social networks and experiencing a world before huge guides, walkthroughs and minmaxing.

100%. Novelty and friends were the drivers of enjoyment for people playing WoW (but really any game from their childhood). Nostalgia has utterly blinded them to this fact, and their egos are so weak they can't just accept it's ok to enjoy a thing for simple reasons. No, they have to rationalize this enjoyment by defending it as some higher art form, or else their fond childhood memories are somehow invalidated
In order to replicate those feelings you have to try new games with friends, or try something besides vidya completely. Especially if you've reached 30+ in your life
