No she wasn't, her philosophy was moronic. In her perfect world public services wouldn't exist. There would no police officers, no firefighters, no hospitals, etc. If you wanted something you would be expected to obtain it for yourself without help or to make something that you wanted. There would be no grocery stores. You'd have to grow all your food. Chop all your wood. You wouldn't be allowed to ask for help from your fellow man for something as simple as directions. Obviously religion wouldn't exist either, but it wouldn't be a paradise for atheists either. Sure, there is no religion, but good luck enjoying anything else without modern convenience, and good luck getting by without medicine.
Gotta a headache? Well tough shit, can't go and buy tylenol. Got a stomach ache? Well sucks to be you, can't go get pepto bismol. You're gonna have to heal yourself with your own knowledge and hope it works. I guarantee you probably 80% if not higher of the people would not last one week living in Ayn Rand's world. that's not what it means idiot. In her world (Rapture) the basic rule "You don't work, you don't eat." applies and also that morality is fuckall when it comes to advancement of ideas. People are expected to take responsibilities for their doings and this will push them to actually do things. Basic life necessities will of course exists since there are people comfy with having their own restaurants and their family stores and also making food. Besides Rapture is so advanced there won't be a need for uselees workers like cashiers or gas attendants since it was proven they had working robots already.
