I still need to finish this game...
Are the PS2 games good at ALL?
the only franchise where the box art is always better than the game
honestly one of my top 3 castlevanias
Quincey Morris game when?
They're both alright, I beat LoI yesterday actually. If you like DMC 1 you'll like it too.
They suffer from being budget-produced 3D games on the PS2. They look like shit and are janky. I know a lot of fags really love Curse of Darkness for some reason, it's actually worse in terms of artistic direction. The gameplay is very boilerplate in both titles. Think God of War except worse, and CoD has stats and devils you can make contracts with.
I love its soundtrack.

Is it?
>julius game never ever
Bros...
Unironically the best way to do a CV game would be to have dark souls-style gameplay, just with actual movement options. I don't think combo chains belong in a castlevania game which is what all the 3D adaptions try to do. Dark Souls has pretty good exploration as well. The biggest problem is implementing advanced movement mechanics + magic shit. I know it's a series staple but I think breaking objects to get "ammo" for subweapons needs to go, it's just busy work and is even more tedious in a 3D game
No
I'm more of a Garden man myself
DoS takes place like a year after AoS.
What happened in that year that crippled Julius?
Yes
That's like the big thing they need to do with the series and it can be done for good and let iga or someone else make new games without the need of the castlevania name.
Nothing. He was fine.
Never finished it, but Portrait's good and my favorite.
Underneath the smut, is this game actually good?
The whip lost its power.
Garden is good too. I always look forward to there for the music along with the Ghostly Theatre.

LoI actually predates God of War, it's a Devil May Cry ripoff instead.
I think a combo system on the level of the first DMC is about perfect, a tool for everything and two timing-based chains. The problem is that nobody seems to be able to match even God of War in terms of quality, the combat in Lords of Shadow is almost as fun as cutting an ingrown toenail.
>he was fine
No high jump
No dash
Slower and shorter jumping
Slower whip speed
Weaker subweapons
Is Castlevania overrated or do you need to be an oldfag to really appreciate it?
I like SOTN but I think I would have liked it a lot more if I played it in the early 2000s
I can't really enjoy Super Castlevania for the SNES, the controls are weird, there are a lot of games from the era I find a lot smoother
post the real one where he says FUCK YOU AND THE NIGHT!
I've been playing Curse of Darkness lately and I'm trying to ace the second Belmont fight without just mashing the quickdash button, which makes it lame and boring. It's fun learning the timing and getting the rhythm down for chain parries.
Classic Castlevania is a little bit like the Souls franchise; it has weird, muddy controls that force you to play differently than you would if it was snappier and more responsive. I suppose that's part of the charm now that games have moved past that, but they are a bit outdated. Symphony of the Night is the original IGAvania, it's still a good game but the subsequent games built on the formula enough to make it feel archaic. You owe it to yourself to at least play the Sorrow games, if not the entire GBA/DS output. Circle of the Moon is disowned and Order of Ecclesia felt like a step back, but Harmony of Dissonance, Aria/Dawn of Sorrow, and Portrait of Ruin are some of the best Metroidvanias out there.
Super Castlevania IV is arguably the smoothest classic game, the series was never about that. You have to be precise, not fast.
i'm 22 and have enjoyed playing them. I think AoS is overrated shit tho. Classicvanias are just short enough that I can play through them and not get bored despite the simplified controls and there is definitely a level of unique skill with stiff jumps not really seen in modern platformers that I personally appreciate. Only issue I have with classicvanias is that part of the game is a "puzzle". Knowing where sub weapons are and which sub weapons are best for certain areas and bosses. I really like SotN but personally a huge part is atmosphere and scale of it all but the biggest issue with igavanias is just how piss easy they are
is the show good
I wish they came up with Hard Mode Level 1 back in 1997.
Season 1 is decent enough but boy does it go downhill from there.
Awful. Ignore it for your own good. Season 1 promises something, it screws around in Season 2, and Season 3 was garbage.
for everyone who knows castlevania just passingly or netflix normies who want everything to be game of thrones. Everyone else sees it for the shit it is.
No. Terrible character dialogue. Episode 1 shows a lot of promise and then trevor shows up in episode 2 and shows how fucking shit the show really is
It has its moments, but Warren Ellis forgot that it took place in the 15th century and everyone talks like they do in all his comics, which is just like Joss Whedon except jaded instead of smug. Also, they pozzed out and made Alucard bi for no good reason.

I guess they tried to balance him out with the two other playable characters, he's still very underwhelming tho
Only the first two seasons are good
don't even bother
