Undertale, fnaf

I played frufi's game.

I'm surprised Zig Forums doesn't talk about it or its sequel

genuinely upsets me in multiple ways. i liked it.

They talked about the first game quite a bit though, even convinced me to play it. I didn't like it.

Bomberman 64, nothing plays quite like it.

Since you said The Longing, probably NaissanceE. The atmosphere of that game hasn't really been replicated to me.
Some other games that have had unique concepts:
Manifold Garden
Rain World
MU Cartographer

Genuinely surprised someone else here has played The Longing. Never seen it mentioned here. A video about it came up in my recommended one day and I decided to watch it, the game sounded interesting so I got it and I'm glad I did.

Not unique in gameplay terms, but i've yet to see a game master level design and atmosphere to the extent that Vexx (ps2) did. Each and every level was so bizarre and amazing. Im still waiting for the day it gets remastered and brought over to PS4/5, but i know that wont happen - didnt sell well enough.

Give it a go though, its a fantastic game

>i've yet to see a game master level design and atmosphere to the extent that Vexx (ps2) did.
Perhaps you could try El Shaddai? Completely different approach since it relies on visuals and storytelling rather than gameplay, but there's absolutely nothing like it out there.

Love this game

coin flips can get fucked

I keep wanting to make something like NaissancE but randomly generated and absolutely fuck massive, basically a true Blame simulator
but the most I've done is basically fart out various map tile chunks of neat architecture and greebles for use in making more of them, but I haven't even begun to touch code or even put together a GDD to outline basic things like whether to have enemies, combat, loot, various incentives to explore beyond just trying to progress further etc.
Need to stop being lazy and just DO IT

I played the Longing for a bit, but it's just not very playable to me.
>If I choose to play every single day, I'll get bored
>If I choose to play less than every day, I'll feel like I'm cheating and just waiting it out
>If I choose to read books, I'll feel like I'm cheating
It just doesn't feel right. However, it is a game with an incredible idea and I do really like how they executed, it's just that I'm not the type of person to play it sadly. I did about 2-3 hours of exploring, which was fun and then forgot about the game.
Fuck, I forgot exactly, but someone made a fairly interesting exploration demo, where they had endless randomly generated white rooms, that connected really well. I think it was on itch io, but it's been a while since I've seen it.
Also, check out Manifold Garden and speak with the devs, maybe they can help. Various roguelite developers might have some ideas too.

It's certainly not for everyone. For me, it's one of those games that sounds awful on paper and probably shouldn't work, but I really enjoyed it nonetheless. Going in with no expectations always helps.

machinarium

Honestly, wish I could find more games like Romancing SaGa 3. It's kinda like you take a jrpg, make it open world, and then add interesting growth mechanics. And I'd say the combat is more difficult and interesting than your usual jrpg.

I guess my only choice is to look at more of the SaGa series

It's called Unlimited SaGa, mate. Which is also the correct answer to this thread.

Eh, probably the Katamari games.

It's biggest flaws is the coin thing and the shitty gameplay. Game maker is crap.

>the shitty gameplay.
Filtered.

Hammerfight, Papers Please, Antichamber

Unlimited Saga killed the series

fascinating game that was entirely ruined for me by the coin flip mechanic
>start a new necromancer
>spend five minutes looking around
>find a skelington
>fail the coinflip to res it
>die
epic

Because it filtered normies.

Suzuki Bakuhatsu
It's a game about a Japanese QT who dismantles bombs she finds in everyday objects such as oranges, phones, the moon etc interspresed with little vignettes concerning her everyday life.

Keep thinking about how much better Unlimited would have been if the reel was replaced by Shadowhearts wheel.

>Suzuki Bakuhatsu
adding this to my list user, thanks

Cheers, lad.

I love it but it's a bit too abstract in terms of explaining what to do, where to go how growth works, what NOT to do, sometimes I wish it was a bit more normal because the atmosphere, battles and OST are way too good but not a fan of having a guide in hand while I play. (For explaining the mechanics, basically).
