Witcher 3 was a shit overrated game
>forgivable?
It got Switch port because of that so, Yes.
Though to be fair, there are PC mods, including massive 4K texture mods and several comprehensive lighting mods.
It's only a downgrade because CDPR shows their games so early in advance, but there's barely any game that doesn't go through this process
You expect it from Ubisoft or some shit like that. CDPR have these aura of being the good guys, and admittedly they largely are, though clearly not always.
>50% downvotes
CDPDrones are so fucking cancer.
The downgrades of witcher III might be forgivable, but the lies about them are not.

People keep talking about the graphics and nobody ever mentions the impression the combat gave. From the first moment I saw that "gameplay" trailer I said that combat looked way too dynamic in terms of animations for what was shown to be actual gameplay. I thought those were more likely parts of cinematics or something.
Nonetheless I hoped to be surprised, which I obviously wasn't.
Still a good game.
I think they have this tendency of hyping things up too early and showing too much indev work. As a dev I really appreciate it but I know that things might change a lot down the line.
And these E3 previews/demos are literally just that, they're kind of an early vision of the final game made from unfinished parts slapped together into a playable (and enjoyable to watch) demo that will be scrapped as soon as the show's over.
This is retarded, the first video answered the "issue" in the first minuite.
Faggots think that because the game on release isn't as visual as the game when the game was first announced that it is downgraded. It is optimization!
This is part of the development process, pre alpha to beta afaik, visuals will continuosly get toned down or high res textures low rezzed to make the game be optimized for the hardware it will be running on.
This ghostman shit that retards tried to blast CDPR with is why they left all the "this game is work in progress" watermarks on CP2077 trailers.
Essentially imagine there is a gameplay trailer, Geralt walking in novigrad for eg, they made novigrad the best visually they could and made it at a stable 60fps to announce the game right...game is announced, then they add combat, gear, quests, stats....list goes on. They go back to that original getting and it doesn't do a stable 60fps anymore the game freezes it blows the CPU up!
So what are they supposed to do? how do they bring the game back to a stable 60fps so the game can be played? the OPTIMIZE IT and lower assets. NPC count, particles, lower rez of textures.
Shit I am just an user who can critically think, I have never working in computers or devs and have never ever read about the dev process but even I know and can think of how the process works.
There are exceptions to this though, ubisoft seem to "upgrade" their games for promo press then downgrade it purposely on release. My assumption why they do this is to not get people only wanting to buy the game on one platform and that they don't want people getting fully immersed in their worlds but to buy the next game on and on.
I fucking hate the retards in vidya right now. Internet 2.0 was a mistake and the discord/resetera trannies along with twitter whores and social media soap box warriors are ruining it for us all.
And you can't dodge the fact that all prerelease stuff is meant to rile up hype.

Hi, excuse me, what does this initialism mean? I am new here and need some help understanding. Thank you.

>combat looked way too dynamic in terms of animations for what was shown to be actual gameplay
What do you mean and which gameplay?
The combat is clearly scripted in teh trailers. It is a set piece to show off the features of the game, all trailers do this. IN fact the combat will probably be more dynamic.
Show you for eg
18:25 if embed doesn't work

They purposely hit the locker to get the trash fall off to try show off physic based trash, which most likely won't be in the game anyway especially after that nigra PS4 footage recently.
No worries, friend. It's 'first post best post", indicating the first post already sufficiently adressed the issue at hand.
Conversely, you can see spbp and tpbp used for second and third posts.
It's not even "pre-alpha to beta", it's something that doesn't even exist in a finished state.
Imagine still being years before release and you're asked to build fx and assets for a trailer, obviously some things will be re-used for the sake of continuity between what was shown and the final game but most of it was just created for the sake of showing an early vision of a product that's still far from finished.
The trailers and demos have no purpose for the dev team, they only exist for marketing reasons and they're not even cheating when showing that, it's probably super frustrating having to slap together something that looks nice so early when you have no idea of what the final product will look like.
>And you can't dodge the fact that all prerelease stuff is meant to rile up hype.
This was implied.
It is purposely cranked up and scripted to the point of promotion. It is marketing after all.
No man's sky is a perfect example. purely scripted (and fake)
On the flip side of that. With CP2077 at least we aren't just getting CGI trailers like most other games.
(seriously what is the point of those anyway, we only ever want to see in game gameplay and that shit is just a waste of resources and manpower) as well as they are actually showing up gameplay and mechanics along the dev process. People still cry and want more. I wish they had a PR team who could just blast out actual facts and the process to tone down the faggots and bandwagon cunts.
Remember GTAV "promo" stuff. It was in engine (in game) cutscene/trailers after trailer. Release date then they released one gameplay overview, GTAO overwiew, game release.
Year R* have super power and their games will sell because of it so they can be quiet as they like but afaik, minus indy and kickstarter devs, CDPR are the only dev, and especially the only AAA dev who are showing the game as it is being developed, despite that ultimately it is all marketing.
>inb4 CDPR fanboy
I like the devs they are better than any other AAA dev but I only care about actual vidya. I want good quality games, I want devs who make good quality games be rewarded buy us purchasing them so they can make more good quality games (Arkane) I don't like to see retards spout out how the devs are doing them a dirty because they are too retarded to even contemplate the dev process and I definately do not like seeing trannies, SJW and twitter bandwagon faggots who would probably not even buy the game anyway, shit on a dev for being based as fuck.
Why don't they jump on EA, they are the ones who deserve the hate.
afaik the process would be engine physics ect then meshes the ART, and that is the key thing here art. I imagine that when an artist is tasked with creating a wall for eg, he created the most beautiful looking top tier top rez texture he can, while he is tasked with that he is also tasked with making 5 other versions of the same wall so that when optimization comes they can pop out the higher quality texture sand put in the lower quality in decending order until the texture matches the optimization...
Obviously this is a simplistic example and correct me if I am wrong if you have more insight into the process but I would assume something like this is a part of the art process and subsequently the optimization process.
Same would be for particles, npc count ect.
I probably wouldn't have been as upset if the previous two games didn't get visual upgrades with the enhanced editions. CDPR really exploited the "small, pro-user dev" thing they had going for them. They advertised fucking "free DLC" which people celebrated them for, when it could've just as well have been included as part of the real game.
One of the guys explicitly said that in the process of optimization it wasn't dealing with graphic stuff.
Optimization is usually assumed to be changes in the code that better the performance, not trade offs. Like someone making a code particulary retarded and then someone change it for something better that has the same effect in the game but runs better.
And they were asked about if the graphics changed multiple times and they denied multiple times.
And yes, marketing is a big reason for it, doesn't change the fact that they are liars.
I initially thought that you were just baiting but after some time I concluded that you are actually retarded so I replied.
Usually by the time optimization starts, there should already be some kind of consistency with polycount and texture size, you're long past the point where "artists" were tasked with making a game instead of making art.
It's still better looking than most modern games today. The overall texture work and art direction is excellent.
>is it forgivable to make a game that runs at higher than 15fps gusy?
uhhhh
what if the last post is the best post?
Why own a PS4? And why project it onto others?
Mods cover a fraction of the game's overall textures. Even unmodded looks really good today. The E3 version meme isn't even a real game, just like how FF13 Versus never existed beyond footage made specifically for a presentation.
or xbox
or pc that doesnt cost 2k and is less than 2 years also
I dont actually know what setup hurts from optimization, if you have high end pc you just get higher fps which is great.
