The real reason the Switch is selling so well its because Nintendo killed their own handheld line
The real reason the Switch is selling so well its because Nintendo killed their own handheld line
Following in Sony's footsteps.
>Nintendo releases the first console/handheld hybrid
>random asshole on the Zig Forums: THEY KILLED THEIR HANDHELDS FOR THIS
Idk man, my switch lite feels pretty... Handheld
We won't see another true handheld from Nintendo ever again
Lite is complete garbage
Yeah okay but it's also selling for more than the handhelds and hasn't had a price cut at 3.5 years. 3DS for example had 2 price cuts at this time. DS had 2 and a cheaper revision.
And that's a good thing
Hybrids from here on out
Well, they did plan to kill their handheld line with the Switch so...
Because they did retard
How is it not a true handheld? I literally only use my switch as a handheld device
Maybe.. but that's not the argument being made is it? Personally I enjoy my lite very much.. to each his own and also fuck you.
Wait did the Super Nintendo really sell that badly? I always thought it was huge.
the switch is a handheld. no amount of retarded mental gymnastics will change the fact that it's a portable system.
The lite screen is disgusting, you must be blind to think it looks like anything but garbage
Its not a handheld. Its a shitty hybrid that tries to be 2 things at once and fails at both
>comparing the size of video game market in 1990 to 2020
It did great in the US and Japan, did trash in EU.
Kinda yes, but also technically the Switch IS their handheld line.
is 13.56m for wii u a bad number?
I never said how the lite screen looked. For the record I think it's only okay. Why are we talking about this again? The thread was about how Nintendo killed off their handheld line when I'm trying to argue they clearly didn't.
After the mass success of the wii? iI's awful, it's literally 1/8th the sales of their previous console.
Their marketing division dropped the ball hard, and there wasn't any real demand for it. The wii mostly sold off of being another "family system", plus it probably sold somewhere between 3-5million at minimum for nursing homes to give dementia patients something to do. Why bother buying a new console when the old one has the exact same games?
Plus a ton of people didn't even know it was even a new system. They thought the Wii U was just a firmware update or an addon, so they glossed over it. Call Sony lazy but at least nobody has ever confused a PS3 for a PS4. Microsoft can fuck off though with their Xbone.
>killed their own handheld line
This IS their handheld line, chuckles.
For 200 it’s completely fine yiu faggot
Good, cause I don't have hands.
Here OP, take this L.
>Lifetime sales of the Wii U and 3DS combined are under 90 million after 9 years
>Switch will pass that next year in under 5 years
Yeah, no, you're an idiot
Its by far their worst-selling platform barring the Virtual Boy. Yes, 13.5 million was abysmal.
The marketing and general communication was bad but it was also simply a console no one wanted. They probably thought the tablet controller would be more appealing than it wound up being when they were developing the console in 2009/2010 but by 2012 no one cared. And by Nintendo's own admission it took them longer to make HD games than they anticipated, so everything just lined up poorly fr the Wii U. No one wanted it, they had no games and the marketing was ass.
The Switch is literally just a handheld. The dock is a cheap usb-c to hdmi converter.
What do you want out of a "true" Nintendo handheld that the Switch is not delivering?
Every day a Nintendo Switch comes up on my countries equivalent of eBay, used, 2weeks or 5 months old. And every day those ads last for about 5 minutes. It's infuriating because I want to buy one for my kid.
switch is readily on its way to surpass 3ds+pii poo combined sales
from a financial standpoint this was a brilliant move
plus being able to consolidate all their development teams onto one platform helps
They didn't include the older handhelds because Switch didn't ourself any of them
Lmao at tendies trying to manipulate data to the meme console with no games look good
The real reason why the Switch is selling so well is actually
>Great concept with the hybrid system
>Constant stream of high quality games
>Low price
Not yet, at least. It's half-way into its lifetime and it's only 7m below the 3DS
You mean like how "The DS is an experiment that won't replace the GameBoy consoles" they said back in 2003? They said the exact same for the Switch that it's a "Home console first and foremost, it has no impact on the 3DS' future" and yet, they completely dropped the 3DS support and we have yet to hear about a successor despite the console being 10 years old in 3 months.
