how is your video game coming Zig Forums?
How is your video game coming Zig Forums?
its not
I have like 500 early pokemon cards and thanks to logan paul inflating pokemon's market value I won't really have to work for a while
(●´ω`●) so I can focus on acquiring vidya making skills
I'd like to make something resembling a PS1 game visually but I'm not sure which engine is best for that?
Pretty good actually, thanks for asking. Made it 3x as far as any other attempt at making a game so far with 5 months of time on the project. Can definitely see finishing and releasing it within the next 1-2 years.
I want to make a Ueda style game but I'm afraid all I have is ideas, and a severe lack of talent and brains
I'm 23 and a NEET so there's nothing stopping me besides actually putting in effort, but I'm a faggot
Just try every aspect of game dev and see which you like most and keep doing that. Once you're confident in your skills in the area you picked, start making games.
My peak was making an unintentional Lunar Lander clone when I was 14.
Unfortunately been all down hill from there.
It's not but I am.
pokéfags really are insane
What is the game in pic related?
I dropped my VR game demo like last year and never could justify finishing it
GameMaker Studio
As soon as I find an artist I'll be able to launch it
Godot.
If you want a reference to a game ressembling a PS1 game there is the Thouest Thee (the last ones) devlogs made by Miziziziz, all on godot.
Wow that is very cool.
Soul.
Waiting for RPG maker to get on discount, I'm too brainlet to use anything else, and fuck unity
don't. PS1 graphics are the new pixelshit. Put effort into learning how to do actual good 3D models, or fuck off.
>Collected base set cards for years
>Sister takes them all
>Gives them away to my fucking landwhale cousin a decade ago
>Will never ever see them again
>Easily thousands of dollars worth now
>All collecting dust next to physical copies of Naruto manga
Life is suffering. I want off this ride.
i feel like in order for me to properly make a game, i have to first learn how to create art to put in the game.
i'm kinda scared about having to make sound effects or making some sort of music for it. please advise
PS1 Graphics are comfy and easy to make, indies need to be realistic making high quality 3D models with only one person is like thinking you can pull of a AAA alone.
holy shit I hate weeb games but this is full of SOUL
What? This is a new trend? Show me where all the other new games with PS1 style graphics are.
And I mean soulful PS1 graphics, not the other garbo indie games that have absolutely zero artistic sensibility.
>"The big companies does it so you have to do it too or else your game is bad!"
user people like pixelshit, just like people enjoy PS1 graphics stop being a retard, indies cant pull off AAA level 3D graphics alone and at the same time be good at music and coding.
store.steampowered.com
this game is being made by one polack
put in effort, or fuck off. Or at least dont cry when your shitty little game doesnt sell.
I watch John Wolfe guy on youtube. He plays a lot of indie horror games and many of them have these obnoxious PS1 graphics lately.
Example: all puppet combo games
youtube.com
I dont have time to look for all of them. Recently like 5 resident evil 1 clones came out and they all had those PS1 graphics, but I forgot their name.
Hasn't this guy been dicking around for years? Is it actually planned for release someday?
I saw that video, one thing that annoys the fuck outa me, why the fucking shit do he thinks shooting at small targets moving incredibly fast is in any way fun.
I could see after 1 second of them moving around that it is not fun to fight these enemies, why cant he?
People also go for PS1 graphics for style
Oh and...
>3 years and is gonna be in early access hell for another 2 years, 5 years total just for the full release.
Another thing that people use PS1 graphics for is the easy of doing so, same thing with pixel art. Less time letting you focus on more important things other than "muh graphics"
Ask for them back, you didnt give them away , she chose for you, do it through your sister, if theyre unwilling, they make it awkward for her, and maybe they would like to avoid that
>Blurry stretch out textures
>PS1
Miziz looks and sound like a petty cunt.
What framework/engine I should use to make a 2d xcoom clone?
years and is gonna be in early access hell for another 2 years, 5 years total just for the full release.
All things that are worth doing take time. Manor Lords will build a huge fanbase (already has a lot of people following it), while your shitty pixelshit will fall into obscurity after 1 week.
>Less time letting you focus on more important things other than "muh graphics"
>he thinks indieshit devs actually care about gameplay
The longer it takes time to develop the game, the more time you have to think about gameplay features.
cant do, sorry. That takes an actual passion and effort.
Those graphics are pretty bad in terms of the art and environment design. You just know that even if they tried going for better graphics, it still would have looked like a bad game. Honestly just let people do what they want. They were never gonna make it if they were never gonna make it. If they were going to make it, then them choosing to do PS1 style graphics wouldn't be a bad decision.
Shit any games that are actually out that look like this? It looks so comfy like PS1/DS graphics
I'm making progress, although I'm taking a bit of a break right now, I overworked myself and now I'm burnt out. Got a few new characters and enemies finished though (these two in particular are both enemies).
his cousin probably didn't take care of them anyway, lowering their value immensely
a lot of my cards are basically straight-out-of-the-booster-pack condition, which is why I'll be making bank
Then don't call it a PS1 game, I can understand having blurry texture for environments, but for characters, that is bullshit.
Lots of pixel games have HUGE fan-bases or brought in lots of sales (i.e Undertale, Stardew Valley, Hotline Miami, Celeste, Terraria and Shovel Knight) they didnt fall into obscurity after a week. ALL of those have incredible gameplay, story and music. Its not the artstyle its the artist that makes the game great or bad.
thats 6 games out of billions
you have a higher chance of becoming an esport player, than pulling off a successful pixelshit game
You also have less change of pulling off a game with high quality graphics alone. Name 12 games that had as much popularity and made indie WITH high quality 3D graphics
I wouldn't mind trying to make a game. Im a pretty mediocre artist and i can write dumb bullshit. I just don't know how to program or where to really begin with making games. I feel like itd be great for getting into programming and actually putting that skill to use.
Is RPG maker worth it to try and dip my feet into it?
Define success.
