Was it a good decision to have him talk in the sequels?
Was it a good decision to have him talk in the sequels?
>FUCK YOU AND FUCK YOUR MARKER
you tell me
He should have been killed and just make iconic the suit.
You are 100% a faggot if you don't love that line.
It didn't bother me at all.
I even liked the first half of 3 before you land on the ice planet.
correct, the swearing alone made Isaac being voiced worth it
>MAKE US WHOLE? IM GONNA STICK SOMETHING UP YOUR HOLE
what did Isaac "The Marker Motherfucker" Clarke mean by this?
Having him talk was the best decision, ruining the horror element and making the game action shooter on rails was what sunk the franchise
Didn't he die in a jump scare at the end of 1? I never played 2 or 3 because I thought 1 was pretty mediocre.
cringe post
Yes. Isaac worked the same way Ash Williams did, completely changing between games. After the events of the first game having him be your typical horror MC, 2 going the "too done with this shit" route was great. They kinda fucked him and Ellie up in 3 so that's a shame but he's an example on how to go e your silent protagonist a voice. Dishonored's Corvo would be the opposite.
*stomp*
>MOTHER
*stomp*
>FUCKER
*stomp*
>chuds can't into conversation and resort to violence
No. His lines added nothing to the game
I need to know if I'm alone in this, genuine question
did anyone ever get turned on during the nicolee hallucinations, like when shes forcing you down trying to stab your eyes then just gets on top of you as you're dying? am I fucked that this gets me off or nah
You might like the idea of snuff or necrophilia. Too much Internet makes you seek new thrills so if you've wanked your meat to normal things for years you'll start to be turned on by stranger things.
or at the very least crippled.
Gangsta Isaac is the worst outcome, but shit eating no taste faggots will always say otherwise
>Everything is trying to kill me! What is this? Detroit?
Did they really had to put that line in the game?
The sequel being made into action-horror instead of pure horror was the bad decision. But his voicelines fit action-horror decently well, so whatever.
Such a shame they never made another game after Deep Space 2.
in Deadspace 2, yes, his lines were excellent
3 was bullshit and lost all the character of 1 and 2.
Yes. Gunner Wright was a good fit.
Isaac actually being able to speak meant he was able to take charge of his path as the game was no longer reliant on other characters verbalizing the problems and telling Isaac what to do (at least after Dana). In 2, he's more often the one coming up with the plans and announcing his intent to solve problems and it makes a huge difference for him as a character.
And just imagine how different all his interactions with Nicole would have been if he hadn't been able to speak. Impossible.
Isaac having a character in 2 was better. He already had an unrelatable backstory with a girlfriend the player never met before, you may as well concede that he's not a blank slate.
This
3 doesn't exist
Absolutely. I don't know many examples of vidyas that turn a silent protag into one that talks, but Dead Space would be #1 on my list of the best examples of it.
Nothing Isaac says is wasted dialogue. Everything he says is important, reactionary, or comedic with proper timing and not forced.
The voice actor did an incredible job and really understood Isaac as a character.
One of my favorite examples is in Dead Space 2, when you first fight the Stalkers in the church, Daina is trying to talk to you mid fight, and Isaac screams "NOT NOW"
It was just such a well done moment. Not to mention every interaction with Stross.
Isaac might not only be the best transitioned silent to voiced protag, but simply one of the best voiced protagonists ever.
I really like in the first game how you only see Isaac's face at the end. It made the entire journey feel worth it.
You know you can see his face right at the beginning before you board the Ishimura, right?
You see it at the start too if you just rotate the camera after the crash.
>Isaac actually being able to speak meant he was able to take charge of his path as the game was no longer reliant on other characters verbalizing the problems
That's a really good point and I agree. Isaac being truly alone in 2 and not "ISAAC GO FIX ____" is a much more freeing AND a much more intense scenario. You can feel much more isolation without a nanny guiding you.
Dial8
As much as I enjoy a blank slate character, one of the worst things about Dead Space was having characters constantly just tell Isaac where to go and what to do. The only solutions to that would be to have Isaac talk in 2, or have less characters and dialogue overall, which would be a shame because I like some of the characters in 2. Stross in particular is very endearing, and having him just talk at Isaac without Isaac ever responding would have hurt his character.
You should consider trying out 2, it's one of the best games of that entire generation. Expect a shift towards more action-horror than horror. It really works though.
The changes made in 2 were actually good, the only problem was that it lead into the fucking disasterpiece that was 3.
Like leaning a little more into action isn't inherently bad for a horror game but 3 just completely dropped the horror.
