Huh? Hajime makes more passive aggressive jabs at Nagito throughout the game than vice versa. What exactly were you expecting him to do, punch Nagito? He’s a masochist so that wouldn’t really accomplish anything. He handled Nagito as best you can, which is basically just ignore his crazy ass and don’t give him attention.

Hell no, it’s easily the best. My only gripe is a long sleeve button up just with the sleeves rolled up would have been more aesthetic than cut off sleeves. Regardless, his design is sorta good while Makota and Shuichi’s designs are downright trash.

Makoto's VA is definitely worse

Makoto's voice works because he's supposed to be boring and they nailed it.

I think SDR2's "will to power" is a much better interpretation of "hope". Will to power isn't hope, but it "uses" hope.Hope on its own is inert. Makoto, who *is* hope, never actually *does* anything, just babbles on about hope, and things sort of worked out. SDR2 lampshades this by introducing Nagito be a negaMakoto (there names are nearly anagrams) who's totally passive, even more than Makoto. Nagito's hope requires literally no intervention by the benefactors. It just "happens to work out", and it always works out. Hope happens to him.

But you can't "hope" for an outcome that's preordained, you can only hope for actions which *might* occur. Hajime's will to power is hope in that sense because he doesn't know what's going to happen. But he is also saying "I'm not just going to simply hope, I'm going to make it happen". It's "actualizing hope", instead of just "hope is beyond people".

tl;dr: It's a reinterpretation of the first game, but active instead of passive. Makoto is hope, Hajime does hope.

What’s crazy is he’s not even close to one of the worst VAs from the first game. The final trial in the 2nd game when Makota, Kyoko, and Byakuya show up is so always jarring to me because how terrible their voices are compared to the remnants of despair. Byakuya and Kyoko get mogged so hard, I don’t even notice how bad Makota’s voice is anymore.

I think makoto and hajime are equally good but I just prefer the sound of hajime's voice. the people hating on makoto's voice forget he's suppose to be some 5'4 pussy manlet in high school. it fits perfectly.

This, Shuichi is the biggest chad in the series. Danganronpa was the biggest thing in the world, and Shuichi said, "No, fuck you, Danganronpa was a mistake," and everybody was so impressed with his balls that they cancelled the series on both sides of the fourth wall.

Hajime is also supposed to be boring, he literally doesn't even have a talent and is just a regular guy whose parents have some money, while Izuru is just supposed to be pure concentrated edge. The voice actor did good at both.
