It's only a matter of time before this comes back to bite me, but I play a lot of fighting games pretty casually, I dont master long combos but I mostly play for fun, and I can say that every person that hates smash that I've played with is easy pickings, I remember a dude from work who had an Akuma belt but he couldn't even do a raging demon and he always talked about how smash didn't count, meanwhile the dudes that beat the shit out of me are completely fine with smash.

But melee has extremely high execution? You don't need to memorize motion inputs but you still need to learn combos at specific percents, in melee you need to learn the timing of all your L cancels and whatnot. Smash is easy to get into casually but difficult to get into competitively, this has been known for ages now and one of the big arguments for the stagnation of Melee's scene because the top players are just so dominating.

Mario Kart is a Kart Racer. Titles like Mario Kart, Crash Team Racing, Diddy Long Racing, Garfield Kart and most importantly M&M Kart all belong to this genre.

Fighting game is a very narrow genre where racing game isn't.
