Honestly i still get pissed off thinking about halo 2. We were promised fighting on earth. Instead we got 1 level on earth and got sent back to a fucking halo and have to play as mary sue fucking elite

None of Halo 2's marketing means a damn to anyone playing it for the first time 15 years later. Or to most people removed from all the hype with a new perspective. It's a damn good game at what it does. The game was called Halo 2 because there was a 2nd Halo, afterall.

Yeah, I played it first time in 2013 and thought Raiden was fine. Seeing Pliskin made me want to play as Snake again for some reason, but I didn't mind it, then finding out Raiden's backstory made me think the story was fucking great and it worked so damn well. Everything was similar to MGS and yet so fucking different. It's such a great game and I should replay the series again but V was disappointing. I didn't even hate 4, I just thought the sheer amount of asspull plot twists were retarded.

literally every single metal gear. 4 just had the unfortunate position of being the last game in the mainline series, and people expected the impossible. simple as that.

I really loved the part when mgs2 just sort of stopped instead of having an actual ending. And remember how it didn't have any actual bosses except for a bad rehash of one of the most beloves bosses of the series an a few encounters with faceless damage sponges? Good shit

I was in my teens when it came out. And I had a love hate relatio ship. Mostly because of the blueballs of the demo bait and switch. I hated Raiden a lot, because I didnt want to play as some faggy wannabe snake who argues with his girlfriend. It did grow on me though

MGSV was an amazing game, but then suddenly ends and having the special edition along with the Blu Ray showing you how it was gonna have an island map and all the cutscenes that were unfinished. It's just an unfinished game due to Konami not wanting to spend more money and probably not gain a profit. The sudden moment where you have to replay missions in hard mode was fine and then the realisation that's all it fucking is. Nothing new, but here's some tapes to wrap the story up.
But Big Boss being alive again was ridiculous, along with Ocelot actually being good guy who wasn't possessed by the arm, but hypnotised himself. Except he actually was possessed, but got hypnosis because the arm was removed. The game wasn't bad honestly and I loved it, but the hours of cutscenes with that shit were unique to MGS4, but like you said user, there were so many plot points to tie up, with it being the end of the main series. It's the same deal with the tapes at the end of MGSV to tie up everything there though kek.

Devil May Cry 4 is probably the biggest offender.

A lot of mgs2 fell flat for me, but it's held up by the individual moments like the game 'breaking down' in the final missions, and Snake reassuring Raiden at the very end. Also, can't say goodbye to yesterday was nice.

This franchise is dead now, but fanboy slaves and children will keep it alive and I have no qualms with kids loving the series since it's for them now and Game Freak have made the decision to only pander to them with the writing and what they think they enjoy, but the series was much better, before they begin to believe they need to pander to children they believe are retarded. It's like how Miyamoto thought they should add a fixed camera to some Mario game to make it easier for kids, but they stopped, because they seen kids had fun with Minecraft and realised they'd be fine with a free camera.

Halo 2's cliffhanger ending means nothing now that you can just jump right into Halo 3. Ignoring the fact we had to wait three years, Halo 2's ending raises the stakes and sets up the next game extremely well. Which is what a good cliffhanger should do.
