Because longswordfags will scream

mordhau has this exact weapon
and its great

mordhau

Cause swing and bash can hardly be done with controllers let alone stab.

The poleax and halberd are pretty good in mordhau
There are a number of other polearm weapons too

>the best medieval melee weapon?
i think you meant to say bastard sword

That's a greatsword swordlet

Never heard of Demon's Soul?

Mordhau is one of the best "fighting" games i've ever played, i wish people didn't get filtered so easily

I hate how HEMA is just 'get touched slightly, round ends'
Why don't they implement some sort of HP mechanic? Like 5 hits gets the battle over
because it never really feels like a fight

Is this a poleaxe or a halberd?
What's the diference?

that's like saying a knife and a sword are the same thing

its a poleaxe, look at the one on the left is a halberd, the one on the right is a poleaxe(OP)

just go watch medieval MMA. They fight until one of them falls over in full medieval plate armor with blunted weapons. It's fun as hell to watch.

Pollaxe normally has a hammer head opposite to the axe and are shorter.
Halberds have a hook/spike opposite to the axe and their spear point is usually longer and thinner.

Isn't that the one where multiple slavs punch one another in armor until the other team falls? Is there a 1v1 version of that?

halberd long, polax small. Polax also has a hammer on the other side, generally, while halberds have a hook

They'd need fancy sensors to be able to tell how much damage would have been inflicted irl and irl sim autists don't care ofr that level of complexity, like airsoft.
>dude this tap actually cut your arm off
>nu uh tis but a scratch

yes. There's 32v32 events, 16v16 events, 8v8's, 4v4s, and 1v1's. Usually championships are decided by 1v1's, so they're extra dramatic.

The hammer and spike serve similiar purposes right? To dent/puncture plate armor?

THE MOST VERSATILE WEAPON EVER INVENTED

it's dueling. duels ended when first blood was drawn. mostly

hammers will never hit flat, and spikes and hooks can dig into gambesons and chainmail and rip and tear and shit. Hammers are easier to land blows with, spikes and hooks are generally more dangerous.

Hook / spike was probably more used to make people trip, then get finished by the spike on top. You can see many halberds even have a space above the axe head where you could hold the point like a dagger for more precision when you got some guy on the floor.

Hammer head would mostly be used to, well, hit real hard some guy in armor. I'd say in a game, Pollaxe could be more useful for unskilled people than a halberd which requires some more martial arts training to use 100% effectively.

to add to that, the axe end can also severely damage armor if the head of the weapon is heavy enough.

I don't believe most HEMA hits are actually drawing blood out of the fighters. You need more than a tiny little cut to go through armor.

Real life ain't like an RPG, kid. Take a single blow to the right area and you are out of action regardless. If someone slices the tendons in your arm or leg, the fight is already over.

Absolute legend doing the meme pose

i don't think most duels allowed armor

That's a Greatsword

HEMA is wrong because look at this webm, this guy didn't even know he was cut and could have kept fighting. thanks for keeping it stupid, HEMA!

>greatsword without the weight of a greatsword is overpowered
no way in hell you'd be able to swing the actual thing around like that unless you're a fucking monster of a man.

for me, it's the polehammer

Play Exanima

what do you use this thing for?

This guy gets it

It's not a fight if both guys are just swinging 'near' each other. They're kids with sticks, only dumber.

>bunch of retarded russians wailing on each other

Do you have more like this?

I don't think most duels allowed foam greatswords either.
