I hope desperate people stop wasting their money buying from scalpers. The pandemic has turned online shopping into a scalper's paradise. I don't trust online retailers to start implementing anti-scalper procedures because they'll just find a workaround.

only way something will be done is if people start spamming companies because of scalpers and bots buying out everything. Would be very easy to block these bots with things like captcha checks and browser detection, preventing more than 1 or 2 purchases and linking that limit to things like physical address, ip address, name, and credit card number.. Companies don't want the bots to be blocked though because they're probably making a lot of money from scalpers buying up stock. They could do all of this stuff but they won't unless the government steps in and makes them start regulating it. just wait after christmas or don't be a conSOOMer and go read a book instead.

New jewvidia cards came out in September and aren't expected to be available to normal people until well into the spring, so I would probably guess May/June for consoles. Scalpers make obscene amounts of money off this and will never let it go until the demand is low enough.

I broke my ps4 the other day, and they still go for $300 new. If I could actually get a ps5 for $500 I would, but it's definitely not worth the money scalpers are selling them for.

I have heard this exact thing so many fucking times in repairing PS4's. My company once ran out of the damn HDMI replacement ports and told people we would just have to replace the whole mobo because we had EVERY OTHER SPARE PART.

When they learn to be patient and stop being willing to pay scalper prices in the first place.
