nintendo of all companies gave in and adopted the xbox layout, that alone should tell you more than enough

I haven't tried the dualsense yet but if it's anything like the previous dualshock controllers, I'll pass

Depends
Symmetrical is god like on something like the Wii U pro, otherwise, asymmetrical if you're not some sort of strange mouthbreather

Asymmetrical is better for the games I play.
Also Xbox one controller is the best controller ever made. I don't even own an xbox.

I never heard a single explanation how could you possibly benefit from asymmetrical sticks.

It’s fine to have a preference but having a strong preference means you’re autistic/disabled/the princess and the pea

It doesn't fucking matter, you'll adjust to either one within minutes unless you have brain problems

>t. never used a controller

because the most used option for each hand goes into the more natural positon. its stupid to have a dpad in a primary spot when you rarely use it in pretty much any modern game

You don't benefit from either. You get used to a layout, that's it. It's just like converting to AZERTY after using QWERTY for fuck knows how long. They still have the same function, just different layouts.

I am more precise on symmetrical, but the asymmetrical is much more ergonomic.

anyone else love the new Xbox controller except for the weird rough texture on the back grips? it's making me debate on returning it and sticking with my old XB1 controller.

It feels nice after washing your hands. I'm being serious.

Why would you go AZERTY if you are not french?

The only issue I have is that if I press the shoulder buttons too lightly, it won't register. Like, just hitting them enough to make them "click" won't always actually press the button. Just pressing them with regular force circumvents this but I'm not sure if it's something anyone else noticed or if it's just a broken controller.

It's a metaphor, it's not something to take literally, user.

>a primary spot
why is that spot primary though?
this, whatever you're used to is primary

lol, I had this exact same problem with the A button on the xbone controller and saw a bunch of anons saying the same thing about their controllers; i guess it's just a microsoft thing

Asym
Also fuck you USPS for "losing" my new Xbox controller.

That's broke, user. I've been using the shoulders in Valhalla and they work okayish.

My Xbone A button stuck too. Pretty sure my dpad on the Series controller is sticking when clicking down too.

The most hidden feature in gaming

I actually liked the xbox controller but the chances of getting a faulty one seem pretty high, just look at the elite controllers

Sony probably would have gone asymmetrical if the Dualshock 1 wasn't an afterthought.

what do you mean

i have this theory that if you use the controller with your arms bent, you may like the symmetrical layout more because otherwise your wrist ends up bent

The original PS1 controller had no sticks and was based on the SNES controller.
As the generation went on, the N64 came out and they realised 3D games needed better control so they slapped some sticks on without redesigning the controller too much.
If we assume they waited until PS2 to introduce sticks they may have put a stick where the D-Pad is as that's what people would be used to. But they've carried on with their original design as Sony customers are used to that now.

Either this kind of symmetrical or x-box design. SNOYggers need not apply.

Asymmetrical, you have your thumb on the face buttons most of the time.
