The extreme of both sides are bad. But a lot of times the conversation goes that way because it becomes apparent that those criticism are made because the person doesn't understand how the game works. It's often the equivalent of a journalist criticizing dmc because they don't understand launchers and animation cancels.

if the people you interact with also care about rank then they aren't good either. If you can elaborate your criticism in a way that makes sense has some validity like shitty online or whatever then no one will care about your rank. If you have more general complaints about the gameplay or you just don't like the game, people will tell you to fuck off. If it's some shit like (x move is too good) you better have some sort of math or reasoning to back it up otherwise people will call you a scrub who's not good enough to deal with it yet.

And point is if you actually were good enough to be an average Vanquisher player, you would easily climb up within a day. Yes, rank is not the best skill identifier, but the average skill level for a group of ranks can be identified.

Why should I have to climb back up the ranks because Harada arbitrarily decided to reset my rank? Getting to Vanquisher was my personal best, and now I'm all the way back at the bottom. Not all of us want to do that shit twice over, especially when there's no fucking reason for it. Most of the high ranks cease playing in Ranked when they reach the top anyway, and just stick to player matches. Eat shit

Rank should reset every season. It's been out too long and the rankings are too diluted. Too many people are at ranks where they shouldn't be. You can eat shit if you're worried about your rank. That you got good enough to get that rank should be the reward, not the rank itself.

When did I say disregard ranks? You individual rank doesn't matter. But continuing to rise up does show growth.

if you really believe that rank is a good identifier of skill then you should be able to get back to that previous rank. Online ranking isn't based on your fundamentals as a player, your general reaction time or your knowledge of the game, it's only loosely based on your win loss ratio. If you can get a high rank by beating shitty players, did you get there because YOU did better? Or because they didn't know?
