Nah, he's right on this other than calling the gameplay bad. It's servicible - not great, but not terrible either.
Thing is, you could easily condense the game into a chapter-based formula with no backtracking again, and you wouldn't miss that huge open world at all. Its functional purpose in witcher3 isn't to be explorable(because there's nothing to explore), nor to be engaging. It's there to take up time.

The gameplay was very very bad and it didn't run very well on my computer.
I could appreciate the world that was very well crafted, but for whatever reason it just didn't really suck me in or interest me very much.

I'm on my 3rd attempt to complete it over the years. My biggest gripe is how unmemorable the map is, and the fact that Garry doesn't seem grounded in the world at all, simple things like:

>sitting in chairs
>meditation/potion/blade oil animations
>being able to to attack NPCs
>cooking raw meat at campfires

I know these are more sandbox type systems but Garry feels like a ghost that people can see but not interact with physically, it just all feels so fake.
