Why can't japan make complex games?
Why can they only make movie games, platformers and fighters?
Why can't japan make complex games?
Is this game hard if you aren't super autistic?
its complex and is greatly aided by having a calculator handy to figure out ratios or cheat by watching youtube tutorials
Most games don't come outside of Japan, because no matter how much they're "localized" people in the stats will complain about them being too hard.
Most well known example of series going to shit after they were dumbed down for the west is Fire Emblem
Its easy enough. Doing well is the fun part.
fire emblem has always been irrelevant.
Waifus saved it, not the other way around.
Has anyone here played Rune Factory 4 and can tell me if it is more complex and interesting than games like Stardew Valleyt?
How about you define what “complex” means in this context first OP
I'm not sure if you fight stuff in Stardew Valley. Rune Factory as a series has its combat as the main draw. You farm shit, gather shit, craft stuff so you can fight even stronger shit, raid higher level dungeons, get better materials, go fighting with your waifu, etc.
this whole post is irrelevant.
The topic is about complexity not appeal.
Reading comprehension is why MMOs have gotten easier.btw
Because most Japanese games are made and intended for children.
Grown adults should be working 80 hour weeks at the office and breeding future workers.
Why does that "game" look like PLC programming software?
yeah there is combat and 2 different dungeons each 100 levels in SV
>and breeding future workers.
It's Japan, they've not been breeding for decades and companies are fleeing before the population crash.
idk why do you look like a faggot?
I just end up creating enough for an automated fortress and go genocide the bugs
Japs can make complex games, they're just not that autistic
I mean look at Noita right now: Made by a bunch of Finns and its got extreme amounts of Finnish autism in it and therefore its fun
Engineering games all end up with structures imitating hardware because they don't have to deal with workers becoming suicidality depressed in a commieblock world.
What's Recettear?
But why would you suffer the same hell you already go through for 8+ hours a day off the clock?
This is what bugs me about Japanese games. None of them tickle my autism just right. When the nips make something clever it's stuff like Nier Automata. Nothing they make is anywhere close to Dwarf Fortress.
These things are only not fun when you're forced to do them for someone else.
>Implying the west should be credited for Factorio
Let the commies enjoy their success, comrade.
Japan thinks RNG and large trial & error search spaces are complexity.
>commies
The developers literally made the game to prove that rightwingers make better games than the corp shit that libshits like though.
Factorio is the comfiest game to have been released this year and there is no discussion
What level of bugs should I do for a first playthrough? I've seen videos of the most infested and it looked really cool with the giant hordes but IDK how much a new player can handle.
Was the crafting dumbed down in Atelier Coomer? It's the only Atelier I've played and it was kind of dull. The only thing difficult about it was the shitty UI.
I'd leave it at default settings if you're new.
will I still get those really cool looking hordes?
Yes when you're producing a lot of pollution.
>He doesn't know about A-Train
>Even the 3DS version's tutorial is like 8 fucking hours long
Not him but yes.
As the evolution factor gets higher the aliens become more numerous. Even on default settings, if you keep playing long enough you will eventually have to fight them in the tens of thousands like it's Starship Troopers.
fucking nice, thanks for the info bros
No, but the combat was gutted and made babymode even more
Western tactical games are way harder and more complex than their Japanese counterparts. Oldcom (even NuCom) and Jagged Alliance series for example would shit on FE and FF Tactics easily.
Probably because Japan never really expanded onto the PC market like the west did so a lot of their games work within console limitations and controls.
