Crash will never be this good again
no shit, too bad it didnt have support for analog control
But Crash 2 did have analog support. Crash 1 didn't.

should I just emulate the originals over the remake?
Why was 2 so much better than 3?
They are virtually the same game
The remakes don't replace the originals in the slightest.
Yes it did.
I personally avoided the remake and bought the og games on eBay because I hated the art style in the remake 2bh.
no it did not, emulation fag
the only advantage over the originals is that Crash plays real nice at 60fps
if you aren't on PC there is literally no reason at all to even pirate it
This is via Mednafen, which is more accurate the Sony's official PS1 emulators.
2 has more pure platforming while 3 was too buried under gimmick after gimmick. It's like the problem between Spyro 2 and 3.
you know you cant just magically add in full joystick support right... at best you can use the joystick as another d-pad
Yes it did you peat gavel
Play NST 1 on the PC then emulate PS1 2 and 3. How many times do we have to say this?
I replayed the PS1 version of 3 this week. The gimmick levels control well and are actually pretty fun except for the swimming levels. The issue is that there are more than necessary and their inclusion becomes more egregious when you have to replay them for relics.
This. The Crash 1 remake adds a lot and brings it up to Crash 2 level.
The remaster was great and keep most things intact wish I could say the same for Homo's Souls
Honestly I don't mind the gimmick levels but the jetski and bike race levels can go to hell.
Playing the PS1 jet ski levels are fine for me due to the generous box hitboxes and ramp locks but I can't argue against people who see them as a drag. The bike levels on the other hand are a pain I can't really defend much because you can't turn around to get missed boxes, there are no checkpoints to restart from, and you can't reset the level unless you go to the warp room or unlocked the time trial.
Yes
seconded
It's easy to do and honestly besides some QoL improvements for the first you lose nothing but playable Coco.
Crash 1 was better, plebs only complain about annoying save system and a little difficulty with box count. Crash 2 casualized it and began the gimmick stages Warped used way too much.
Remakes sucks. Originals ND games still king.
Support your town's economy by buying a ps1 and all 3 games from local shops near you today, son. It's your patriotic duty.
2 is the weakest entry in the series. It lacks the things that allowed 1 and 3 to be properly difficult (harsh punishment for death and time trials respectively) and so is mostly just a mediocre platformer with slightly more advanced mechanics than 1. The Komodo Bros are also the most pathetic boss in the series.
3 is easily the best because there's much more to master within it, but without the annoying aspects of 1.
>It lacks the things that allowed 1 and 3 to be properly difficult (harsh punishment for death and time trials respectively)
Give a more elaborate example. I haven't seen someone hold your viewpoint before and I want to hear your reasoning.
Coco is shit so that's yet another plus for emulating the superior originals.
3 is great because relics, the real game, offers interesting challenges to be progressively mastered and a much faster pace by end game, and the bike, jetski and tiger levels are fantastic in their own right.
1 isn't all that great, but gems are much more challenging to get becasue the game demands you complete each level without dying to get them. The bonus level saves are stupid though and rightfully complained about.
2 is a halfway compromise between the two that delivers neither's strengths. Knowing where the boxes are is most of the challenge.
I can see your point but I can't help but disagree. I love Warped but I can't help but see the non-platforming challenges' overfrequency along with the relics diminishing the potential replayability. I'll even say that I find many of Warped's platforming stages more polished and fun to play through than 2's but Warped's flaws end up tallying up to an experience that's overall less satisfying than completing.
>Knowing where the boxes are is most of the challenge
I can't help but disagree here too. The boxes and hidden routes are much easier to find and remember than Warped's.

I agree 100% with this.
