Hell, that last point tends to save my performance on most other games. The Optifine settings even said I just needed 2GB of RAM for 32 render distance, and I have four times that. Do you need a literal NASA supercomputer to run Minecraft on max settings?

Just turned on my 1.14 optifine version, created a new world and put on 16 chunks on. After all the surrounding chunks loaded, the game ran at a smooth 60 fps. Same thing after loading 32 chunks (Running around was still fine). During loading I got pretty minor freezes if I flew too fast.
I have a GTX 960 and the other components are around similar power.

I have 5700xt as well and I think AMD cards just don't do Minecraft well. My friend has a 1660ti and his frames don't drop below 100.
I honestly think AMD cards just aren't worth it because this shit happens in other games too like when we play Risk of Rain 2.
Some games run perfectly but there are more than a few games that just perform like ass.

Minecraft Java uses OpenGL, AMD's Windows driver's do poorly on that API. Either install Sodium/Optifine or go on Linux where the OpenGL performance is good.
