Kino or No?

Anyone?
It's very good.
Havent played it but I hear it's real damn good. I love Streets of Rage 2 and 3 so i'm tempted too.
Its fire punch lvl of kino
It's good in the context of beat em ups which is a buggy archaic genre with a lot of shitty mechanics that never evolved. I love beat em ups and after River City Girls this was one of my favorites in recent memories combat wise. But it's just as janky and unfair at times as the old school SoR games. Just know what you're getting into and if you like beat em ups
Predictably, it's not as good as Bare Knuckle 3.
Honestly I think it's the best traditional 2D Beat Em Up ever made. Avoid River City Girls like the plague, that game is kusoge.
dragon's crown is better though
It's unironically one of the best games of the year.
Wish they would make new content for it already
For me, it's Shadow over Mystara, but Streets of Rage 4 is really solid.
River City Girls is better by sheer gameplay depth alone. River City Clones will always btfo shallow beat em ups. RCG has full movesets with directional inputs and air combos. SoR4 was fun but it's your run of the mill spam one move and special and cheese through.
I bought the game and finished Mania mode on day one, and I couldn't stand how much priority enemy attacks had over your own. Enemies had attacks you couldn't interrupt, and some attacks could track you when moving up and down. You'd get into situations where you'd get juggled to death, or have so few opportunities to fight against crowds without getting hit.
Luckily, September's update rebalanced the shit out of the game. It's gotten easier but way less tedious. The game is a lot more fun to play today.
It's great. Get it.
Its one of the best beat-em ups I've ever played, it suprised me I expected a good retro brawler and ended up playing one of my favs of the years
>Honestly I think it's the best traditional 2D Beat Em Up ever made.
That's Streets of Rage Remake. It outdoes pretty much everything SoR4 excels at and I'm a fan of SoR4.
>Avoid River City Girls like the plague, that game is kusoge
>River City Girls is better by sheer gameplay depth alone. River City Clones will always btfo shallow beat em ups.
Both kind of true. Graphically I think it's great, mechanically it CAN be excellent but the bosses are shit and the music is atrocious and that does dock it down a lot for me. Otherwise it's a lot of fun.
Kunio Jidaigeki NES is the secret ascended god tier Beat 'Em Up.
My GOTY; then again, my favourite game is SoR2. I'm biased.
My only issue is the bosses having unblockable moves (or they're unblockable due to my intoxication while playing.) But I highly recommend the game. Probably the best beat-em-up since Fight N'Rage.
>better by sheer gameplay depth alone
Have you even played SoR4?
>Avoid River City Girls like the plague, that game is kusoge.
Even though I know this, I'll probably still buy the Switch version for my mother. She loves the series and we've played them all for ~29 years.
Mother Russia Bleeds is better in every way.
>River City Girls is better by sheer gameplay depth alone.
i hate this fucking board
GOTY2020 + Best BMU ever made.
No shit you fuck buy it now
>Hasn't played RCG
>Still trying to argue SoR is somehow deeper
I've played every beat em up available on the Switch. SoR is dial a combo into special. The biggest thing it has over RCG is the multiple characters having their own specialties. But gameplay wise I still vastly prefer the options RCG provides you with.
Hands down best game of 2020 for me. Spent around 50 hours in it and yet it only cost me about $25 at launch or whatever the initial discount was.
Yeah, it's great. Gorgeous animations and two dope soundtracks. I played it on Gamepass but fully intended to buy it for full price before they added it.
You see the combos niggas are doing these days brehs
pretty good
shame it looks fuzzy above 1080p
>OMG LE EPIC COMBO ON PUNCHING BAG ENEMY
I'm not going to lie -- I've never played RCG. But I intend to (as I said, I intend to buy my mom a copy and co-op with her).
But from WEBMs posted in previous threads, the combo system can be pretty deep in SoR4. I, myself, can't manage to pull them off (S-ranks are beyond me).
That guy's a fucking retard. RCG is poop and SOR4's gameplay is infinitely deeper. SOR4 is literally better in every single department.
>That's Streets of Rage Remake. It outdoes pretty much everything SoR4 excels at and I'm a fan of SoR4.
Sor4 has a better combo game. You can't juggle in remake
But the art looks pretty alright. Probably the best thing about Wayforward's games.
The best game of 2020, granted there's an asterisk next to that since I don't count Early Access games, otherwise it's #2 behind Ultrakill. In a world of remasters and reboots, Streets of Rage 4 feels like a continuation, and that's about the best praise I could give it. Also it's got the OST of the year too, the French guy that did 75% of the tracks did a really nice job and all the guest tracks are sick; They're Back is one of the highlights of Yuzo's career and Shimomura on Shiva's theme just feels right.
All that said, I feel like I still prefer Ninja Warriors Once Again, but that's a 2019 release so it doesn't stop SoR4 from being GOTY 2020.
Ok you got me there, juggles are excellent in SoR4 actually.
Dragons Crown exists. When Fatass ports it to Steam... its over for SoR4.
I really like this section because it makes you realize how much the Z axis matters in most beat-em-ups and how the dynamic changes massively if it's a pure sidescroller instead.
Is this still switch exclusive?
Lead animator doesn't know how to draw hips or figures very well so everyone looks like refrigerators if they're not traced 1:1 from SoR sprites. Also they let some retard autist convince them not to take SoR3 and improve on it and instead remade SoR2 with no rolling, sprinting etc.
Furthermore they based their gameplay balance around Axel but made him too difficult to animate with all the extra clothing shit on him so when they made mistakes they didn't fix or reanimate anything and left him complete trash compared to the rest of the cast.
>that finisher on the boss
coom'd
No it's on every console
Yeah, the level design in this game is exemplary. Each area feels different and they make fantastic use of enemies. It's just so varied.
Dragon's Crown is fun to play, but the level of content is dire. It's the same few levels over and over, just grinding it out. It removes that arcadey pick-up-and-beat nature that most beat-em-ups have, and doesn't deviate from it in a good way. River City games at least use the light ARPG mechanics in a less intrusive way.
It's also on PS4. I think Wild Guns Reloaded must've done really bad on PC so they didn't bother with Once Again. PS4 sales must've been low for Once Again as well, since the new Pocky & Rocky they're making is Switch-exclusive.
>Also they let some retard autist convince them not to take SoR3 and improve on it and instead remade SoR2 with no rolling, sprinting etc.
Certain characters have that, others dont.
>Left Axel complete trash compared to the rest of the cast.
there has been a patch retard.
>I think Wild Guns Reloaded must've done really bad on PC so they didn't bother with Once Again.
I was afraid of that, fuck. Should be thankful Switch audience is giving these guys any kind of budget I guess.
