How do you react when someone disparages video games?

They are right. Playing video games is fine, but I think everyone should learn a valuable artistic skill.

Theyre alright but it doesnt improve your life in anyway, spend 5-7hours working to buy a game, spend another 20-100hours plus playing the game, all that time you spend playing games you could have spent making your life better, mastering skills, finding a mate, working towards a desired career, making money, investing money, etc... i mean i have nothing against videogames but itd be foolish to think theyre genuinely not a huge waste of time.

Ive been playing for almost a decade and i can say that if you get autistically into music you can hear rhythms and pitches everywhere its so much fun and is better than staring at a screen for hours a day

You're just not talented. Especially if you're struggling with something as easy as the guitar. Been drumming since I was 12, guitarists and bassists are 98% just unskilled cunts and learning to play Tekken at a good competitive level was just as, if not more challenging that getting good enough to actually charge for my drumming.

Videogames teach critical thought and improvisational decision making, too. Decoding songs in your head is fun, but thinking up creative solutions to problems at a quick pace is just as enjoyable and far more applicable to daily life.
I do think everyone should learn the basis to art in some level, but the truth is that most people are just too uncreative to even begin making use of those skills, and that's not something you just happen to learn magically.

Anyone who disparages subjectively enjoyed hobbies by others suffers from massive validation and self-image or confidence issues. There is no point to go out of your way to be an asshole to others or shit on their personal tastes or hobbies if they are enjoying themselves.

Not even that user but that is bullshit. There just exists people who don't even have to try in life to be exceptional at something. That doesn't mean others can't surpass them with hard work and persistence however. Singing is one easy example of this. Some people can just sing well naturally without trying and others will forever sound like Helen Keller fishing for pitches until they get further instruction and practice.
