>Speaking with GameSpot, Cyberpunk 2077’s composers P.T. Adamczyk and Paul Leonard-Morgan discussed the score’s character, their inspirations, and their common goal to deliver a musical experience outside the usual Cyberpunk tropes. Marcin Przybyłowicz was the third composer onboard of Cyberpunk 2077’s sound and had previously worked on The Witcher 3. With composing the music for Gwent and Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales under Adamczyk’s belt, Leonard-Morgan also brought his experience from creating the score for Dredd - a Judge Dredd film from 2012 - to the table.
>The pair were asked if the popular genre synthwave was ever included in their musical journey, to which Adamczyk replied “Yes, it actually gave us a reference of what not to do for Cyberpunk 2077.” He continued to reveal that Przybyłowicz made it clear from day one that there was to be "No synthwave, please." Leonard-Morgan supported Przybyłowicz’s request by labeling synthwave as “too glossy and shiny," where Cyberpunk 2077’s environment is dark and dirty.
Cool. I like synthwave, but I appreciate they're trying to go for their own style. I also think it fits with the idea of moving from an 80's inspired cyberpunk aesthetic to a 90's one.
Owen Ross
and the problem is?
Jordan Phillips
this is fine, the game is called cyberPUNK and it literally fits in with original conception from the 80s, not whatever deus ex or ghost in the shell image you think cyberpunk is
James Davis
I think this game is going to disappoint a LOT of people.
Joseph Gonzalez
Synthwave is too 80's, It never made sense to be the "official" soundtrack of the future.
Oliver Jones
You will never hear Kavinsky's Nightcall while driving around NC.
You are going to listen to billy eiylash and you will like it.
Luis Johnson
The more I hear about this game, the less it's what I imagined the ideal cyberpunk game to be.
Is this just going to be yet another generic ""cinematic"" game with more propaganda than an actual atmosphere, mood, ambience, or any sense of an enjoyable and immersive experience?
Caleb Torres
synthwave is nice but its such a fucking meme
Gabriel Wood
Thats retarded. Synthwave is lime .00001% of the music market. Yet you have no qualms about rap beats and metal. Fucking retard.
Andrew Jones
I love how they're going against the grain and all the zoomies are butthurt, because all they know about cyberpunk is neon, rain and shitty synthwave.
Juan Lopez
I agree, Synthwave would probably have fit with the tabletop setting, so it's pretty fitting to progress into the "future" as a parallel to the real world. I think the music choices so far have been pretty good, Cyberpunk as a concept doesn't lean on musical or specific visual styles so seeing them inject "original" ideas despite the otherwise derivative design is pretty refreshing. I kind of wish they'd have stuck somewhat to the old punk-y feel though, but I suppose punk is dead.
Jeremiah Rogers
just mod it
Jace Reed
>What the fuck are they doing?
Replacing the music with nigger gibberish and pop trash.
Hudson Garcia
I will now have to listen to the entire OST before considering buying this shit. "lets make cyberpunk, but change or remove anything that actually is characteristic of the cyberpunk genre" - no I dont think so.
Cooper Bailey

And with just one sentences he buttdevesated every single Redditor that thinks Synthwave is good in any form or shape
i dont even know what synthwave is, does anyone? seems to mean something different to everyone.
Anthony Bailey
He is right tho
Josiah Watson
Retards. PC Chads will mod in their own soundtracks.
Jonathan Wright
>no source >Zig Forums falls for it
Adrian Evans
i've listened to Kavinsky for years niow, why would I want it in Cyberpunk. I like synthwave but we are long past the stagnation of the genre. It's just synthwave based on synthwave based on synthwave. Very little of it now adays is inspired by the actual synth from the 80's anyway. It's gotten bland and normie as shit. Just because there's neon in Cyberpunk doesn't mean the sound fits.
Connor Russell
Why is that a problem? Why would Synthwave be the music choice in the future? Do you faggots assume everyone in the future is going to listen to that shit? I would be cringing if it was in the game.
I've been cringing for 20 years at all of you brainless wastes of life who listen to niggers.
Carter Butler
The point isn't that it's oversaturated, it's that it doesn't suit the setting. Synthwave is a relatively new genre and thus doesn't really fit within the lore of the game which is kind of retro-futuristic
This. I will personally mod in Fashwave and then kill women, non-whites, and trannies.
Robert Nelson
>Synthwave is generic and stereotypic for Cyberpunk >Let's fill soundtrack with mumble rap because it's completely different and not a GTAV/Spider Man BLM clone!
>deliver a musical experience outside the usual Cyberpunk tropes Considering their game looks like the most cheesy, shallow, cliche version of cyberpunk imaginable, synthwave would fit right in
Carter Kelly
I love when incels SEEETHE over mass replies. SEETHE AND GIVE YOUR SOUL.
Nathaniel Sullivan
Yeah I don't listen trash.
Logan Rogers
>MY IDEA OF THE FUTURE HAS NEON BLUE AND PINK AN AN AND EVERYONE PLAYS 80s SYNTHWAVE AN AN ITS ALWAYS DARK AND GRITTY AN AN AN TECHNOLOGY IS LIKE BAD TEHEE THE GAME HAS TO BE THIS VISION OR I REEEEEE
I'm going to pirate it and enjoy it. You bitchy faggots are unbelievable and insufferable.
Why even call it cyberpunk then? The city is tiny, the characteristic "buildings so tall and pollution so heavy that there is no sunlight at street level" is absent, the overall 80s aesthetic that defines cyberpunk is mostly gone. It has become "generic future simulator 2077"
Brayden Howard
While also being nothing like the actual 80s. It's especially bad with those movies trying to be "retro" while looking nothing like actual movies of the time.
Jordan Miller
>Considering their game looks like the most cheesy, shallow, cliche version of cyberpunk imaginable, synthwave would fit right in
CDPR are super slavish on the lore of Cyberpunk 2020. And CP 2020 music is super trashy and revels in it. It's hard rock, rap, punk and corporate pop music. No synths outside of corporate pop and Techno. If they did include synthwave it would be corporate pop and people would reee anyway Because you faggots think Cyberpunk is Blade Runner when the genre has multiple different takes on it.
John Taylor
So you want just another GTA?
Matthew Diaz
>CP 2020 music is super trashy and revels in it. It's hard rock, rap, punk and corporate pop music. Wrong. I just looked at the playlist.
