The writing is really bad and it's what the entire game hangs on, because the gameplay is painfully generic and does nothing special.
Very bad story, generic mediocre gameplay, so the game is overall bad.

The story was extremely bad.
The characters were inconsistent with the first game and even inconsistent within TLoU2 itself. There's a shitton of plotholes and contrivances to force certain scenes.
Even thematically it doesn't make sense because "revenge bad" but Abby basically got away with everything when her act of revenge was the most unjustified by far.
