I'd agree. But I still think the undyne fight is mechanically better. The only issue I really have with undertales combat and bosses is too many of them rely on just being survive a set number of turns. And there's only about four that have a unique gimmick such as undynes spear block, metatrons viewer ratings, dummy's doll rockets, and to an extent muffets bribe acts.
I think the demo for the sequel showed that they also seen it as an issue as a lot of enemies had unique victory conditions. Which I think was a improvement.

All of the final bosses are great, but for me it's Sans>Flowey>Asriel

I'm pretty excited to see where they go with Deltarune because if each part is as good as part 1 it could be an ever better game than Undertale

Another thing i like about the fight is how it's designed to be so hard that you just quit, which itself works very well in the game's story since Sans is trying to make you give up and end genocide route.
Oh, and the sudden change of how you feel after you finally strike him. From happiness to sadness pretty quickly.

>sans gives up and lets you spare him if you want
>if you do this he just instakills you and tells you to delete your save if you actually meant it
This was a really ballsy thing to do but it worked out pretty well

>Sans is a near impossible boss fight that tests your soul
>Papyrus is a 1 hit KO

I know this wasn't intentional but I find that it really does highlight the duality of them as brothers

He really is a great boss, I could do the fight a thousand times and still have fun, same with Undyne Undying.
Recently I've started to appreciate the Asgore fight 10x more after doing it with no items or at 2x speed, the neutral fights in this game become so much better when you challenge yourself.

The sans boss is the highlight of the genocide route.
I like True Lab, to a lesser extent Asriel, Asgore and my first attempts through Flowey, Toriel and MTT as much.

>>if you do this he just instakills you and tells you to delete your save if you actually meant it
Wait, really? I didn't know that
Also that. This game's bosses actually feel pretty amazing to play.
My sister got filtered by this game so i played for her. I managed to have fun even in easy stuff like Papyrus.

we know you're at this bunker
please come out i want to meet you

Asriel is better in every way, except for the shitty fact that it is a cripted fight you can´t lose manually, like flowey´s. If it weren´t for that, then Asriel would be number 1 but as it stands sans is better as it he is an actual bossfight

hotland is the only boring part of this game desu and even it has some highlights

Ye. Sans and Undyne were both hype as fuck and legitimately challenging

Don't get how the genocide route is supposed to be "punishment" and make you feel bad of you're rewarded with fun

I kinda liked hotland desu
It got really nice when i hit the core, but the dialogue and the scripted puzzle sequences with MTT were a little too cringy and annoying. It had cool items and mechanics though : It also has the most interesting and interactive enemies.
I dunno senpai, the Asriel fight is an unique feeling, but facing Sans for the first time too feels fucking awesome. Also both of them have equally amazing soundtracks.

this desu
unironically the punishment is actually killing the fucking things. Like it's pretty bearable in waterfall and snowdin but
>haha kill 40
fucking fuck off

I first expected me to be able to return to a previous area and kill the enemies later, killed Papyrus before wiping out the Snowdin population and failed. Restarted : I figured the game would have a little more content and enemies after The Core because of the huge ammount of enemies you need to kill, killed Mettaton (and was disappointed because it wasn't a real fight) and then i proceeded to restart the game yet again.

sans is also technically a one hit KO

Not either of them but Asriel's fight feels more like a definitive emotional end to the game. Sans is more like a "oh fuck I am going to be murdered oh god please help" endurance fight. Both of them have different goals and both of them successfully achieve that

>tried to do a level 1, no health items, no armor run
>couldn’t beat Asgore at the very end after multiple attempts
Am I just bad at video games?

Nothing canon says this guy is Gaster

Same. I think deltarune is shaping up to be a lot more varied, which I love.

Just gotta keep on keeping on and you'll get by

Yeah, but toby might give in and make it him anyways.

monsters are super vulnerable when they're not expecting to get decked iirc

Fucking this It unironically brings the entire game down. What an awful decision to lock two of the best fights in the game behind that, same with not giving NEO a proper fight. The "messages" in this game really brought it down for me, especially with how already fun the enemy turns are.
I just don't like how it punishes the people who would rather play some cool boss fights than read hundreds of dialogue (see pic related), I guess in the end it worked because of how successful the game became but still.
Yeah it's really well design, the way it ramps up the difficulty over the time is cool.
Are there any attacks specifically that always mess you up?

Attached: WHY.png (582x275, 21.3K)

why am i the only person who doesn't give a single fuck about this guy

literally everything you can possibly imagine leads to that, though.
I don't see much purpose in the man who speaks in hands outside of being just a slightly creepy intriguing easter egg, either.

>tries to fight enemies in snowdin
>Jerry in every fucking fight

Attached: rage.png (628x568, 369.54K)

No, also me. Game theory tier faggotry.

Sans battle was awesome and was easily the best part of the game. Wish the genocide run was more fleshed out with challenges like that. The Mettaton fight was a total tease

>Are there any attacks specifically that always mess you up?
The biggest one is the bullet hell one that fills your entire movable area and you have to go between the cracks. I always take at least 1-2 hits on those. And since you can only get hit 5-6 times max, I'm usually dead by the second time he uses it.

>game theory tier
except gaster actually makes sense, and toby intentionally referenced him just about everywhere in Deltarune, and basically confirmed that he is the weird 1/500 man in Waterfall

Yeah man. You're defining what I was referring to

Whaaat? How could you lose against Asgore if you (presumably) beat Sans?

Assuming no healing, Asgore and UtU are unironically harder than Sans.

I refuse to believe that.

But it's all extraneous bullshit. There is no reason for the Gaster stuff to exist at all. Undertale is perfectly self contained by itself. Deltarune is a neat alternate twist that would ALSO stand fine by itself with no further explanation beyond a "What if?" scenario- a Regulators to Undertale's Desperation. The Gaster stuff is a made-for-10:01-Youtube-videos craphole. 'He lives outside the game!!' Stupid. 'He knows about save files!!' Already have a character that does that, Toby. Several, actually.

I could do an almost no-hit run of Sans, I could potentially but not guaranteed beat Asgore without healing, might have to retry a few times though. I would absolutely not be able to beat Undyne without healing.

>try to do a low level Undying fight
>read up the best route for it
>"kill jerry in every encounter and run"
>mfw
I'm never fucking doing that again, plus what the fuck is up with being forced to kill Snowdrake? Why is there even unique Chara dialogue for not doing so?
You can spare Jerry on his own without ruining a genocide run btw, no need to kill him
Yeah that one is probably the hardest normally, I recommend taking a quick look at the pattern and speed before it reaches the "box". Usually I can figure out how fast I should be moving from left to right, and how to avoid the last two rows of fire.
Remember that the fire sprites aren't perfectly accurate to their hurtbox, so don't worry about scraping the outline of them.
Some of Asgore's later attacks can be a pain in the ass to dodge, especially with the stress of knowing you'll only be able to get hit a few times before restarting the fight.

I dunno man, it just sounds like you're too obsessed about the Youtube shit. I don't care about them, I just enjoy meta concepts and I think the concept of an intentionally "cut content" character being left behind in the game is neat.
Try to for a moment forget that Youtube, and all it entails, exists. Do you still feel the same?
