Are all JRPGs like this? This is my first one. I've just finished Act I, and I'm working through each party member's individual stories. Literally all I've been doing for the past two or three hours of game time are walking and clicking A through cutscenes. Is this enjoyable to people?

its weebshit what do you expect

I can't believe I was tricked into playing this. Do japs really spend what little time they have off work to play DQ?

>Are all JRPGs like this? This is my first one.
Start with Final Fantasy 1

Yes

I wanted to give a JRPG a shot. I had no idea it was basically watching a movie with middling gameplay in between the click-A simulator.

why do you think weebs like cringime and shitty JRPGS
its because they are retarded

go play tlou 2

call of duty might be more your speed mate

no

CoD games have better writing than this so far. Also better gameplay. Don't at me.

>Is this enjoyable to people?
Yes? We enjoy the story, characters, and world. The cutscenes don't bother us.

You don't "Click A" you retard. You press A, or you click Attack.

You could've just played Persona 4/5 or Xenoblade. Maybe JRPGS just aren't for you

It's okay to have shit taste, user

lmao Persona has even less gameplay and Xenoblade has 13 hours of cutscenes

It's weird. Divinity: Original Sin 2 is super dialogue-heavy, and it's one of my favorite games. I think it helps that Divinity balances out the cutscenes and dialogue with interesting, dynamic gameplay. Everything in DQXI is very linear, and the player isn't really given a choice in anything, so it feels extremely restrictive.

based OP dabbing on weebs and their shitty game

But they are much more engaching than Dragon Quest imo

Try stuff like devil survivor then.

FPS - hold direction, shoot, win.
Racing - hold accelerator, press left or right, win.
Sport gamm - hold direction, press button, shoot/score, win.
RPG - you get my point.

It's not clicking for you, bro. That's okay. Maybe you can find another JRPG that appeals to you, maybe they'll never appeal.

Action JRPGS>>>>>>>Action WRPG>>>>>>>>>>>>literal dogshit>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Turn Based DVD simulators

are you talking about WoW

Try smt4

It does get a lot better after the first chunk of the game I promise.

the worst part of DQ11 is the fucking music. Oh my god, would it have killed them to include some more variety? or at least one or two fucking catchy music pieces? this is the definition of bland and recycled. SO fucking lazy, fuck's sake, it almost ruined the whole game for me. music is super important in jrpgs

Play some Mario RPGs

If its not to your liking, that's fine with you. Some people like being immersed in a straightforward fantasy world with a set story and characters and stuff they enjoy.

I'm glad you're still trying it, though. Act 2 is much more interesting than act 1

People get butthurt about Act 3, but I enjoyed it.

it gets better after the initial 2 hours, it is really off putting.

This but in reverse
FUCK action RPGs they are complete and utter trash its the same repetition but now its worse because you need to constantly move and press the attack button
Give me turn based any day

not all of them. it helps if you actually give a shit about the story it's telling but truth be told 90% of jrpgs are fucking boring as fuck retreads of the same tropes over and over. the key is to get to that 10%.

chrono trigger, chrono cross, xeno gears, a select few final fantasy games, xeno saga, early pokemon games, super mario rpg, paper mario, suikoden (2, if you prefer), grandia, earthbound.

they all do their gameplay just differently enough to keep it interesting, some more addicting than others, and the stories they tell are the ones that are more compelling than the rest of the shit heap. there are more, people will argue, but there are always names that people will drop more than others and there's a reason.

that being said that is what the jrpg formula tends to be. story exposition, time to explore, random encounters, boss time, story exposition, rinse repeat. if you don't give a fuck about what's happening, don't play it because it literally never gets better.

>not enjoying cutscene game
>recommend cutscene game

You tried your best buddy

I've heard Act 3 takes the training wheels off. Looking forward to the challenge if that's true.

It’s easy the whole say through. It’s made and balanced for Japanese kids.

Hey I've seen those little shits play DDR. They don't fuck around.

The casual ones

>it's another episode of "dumb bored normie plays a game when he hates every single basic element of that game".
Why you idiots must waste your money, your time, and rape our eyes with your mongolid posts for no reason? Is it so hard to understand that
I hate cutscene and heavy dialogue things = I won't like cutscenes and heavy dialogue things
?

It's nice to try new things when you're unsure if you'll like it or not, user. That's how you find new things to enjoy.

hey thats my wife!

>Not picking the superior lady
Unfortunate.
