If you ask me, it can only go uphill because the majority of Tom and Jerry movies aren't anything special.
The original from the 90s was ass, the newest ones were ass, and only a couple of the movies from the 2000s are decent for what it's worth. The new movie at least gets the slapstick down (hoping they add Tom's actual scream and that the one in the trailer was just a placeholder), I like that Tom and Jerry are literal cartoons that exist in the real world like it's Roger Rabbit and follow their own cartoony logic rather than being realistic abominations, and the storyline's premise actually seems to work their chase dynamic into it as well, which I do like and has always been my biggest issue with most of the other movies.
Peak Tom and Jerry for me are definitely the original shorts and Tales, though.
