Did not play bfa. Played every other expansion and this is the worst one by far. Also apparently the warcraft universe now revolves about everything being a matriarchy or otherwise female, and its not being done in a good way either.

WoW lost the attention of the mainstream public with WoD or even Pandas. It has held on to a lot of players but Blizzard essentially lost the mandate of heaven at least five years ago. Shadowlands and BFA are just when WoW players themselves started to notice.
WoW pre-Cata in terms of population was a freak accident stemming from the time of its release. Other online games with persistent progression, from facebook games to fortnite to MOBAs had not yet proliferated. People who had no interest in MMORPGs were still playing WoW because it was THE online game. Blizzard would have lost the majority of its players even if it hadn't started fucking up a few expansions ago, and they knew it, which is why they shifted to this torturous engagement metrics philosophy.

its one of the best expansions honestly with good zones, bearable dailies and good dungeons. Feels light weight and fun enough to get me subbed unlike BfA that was a hot mess with 200 different things that just didnt work properly.

Basically atm, SL has really good dungeons, PvP is back and all the other time gating end game stuff is super shitty.

I'm already "raidlogging" after 1.5 days. but its fun to do tasks in WoW.

Time gating is shitty, lore is still bad (any hope for good lore died after vanilla), but classes are fun and so are dungeons. All in all, better than BfA and WoD, but inferior to Legion.
