Twwh has basically killed CA as a company, every game they have released since has been complete shit and has flopped massively, thats why they're milking warhammer for all its worth becuase once the warhammer kiddies get bored , CA will have no one left becuase they alienated their original audience years ago.

Why do people hate Empire Total War again?

Just started playing it after having not touched it in a decade and i'm fucking loving it.

>tons of fucking great mods
>tons of factions to play as
>three fuck huge maps to blob your way across
>three more maps purely for trading
>lots of city management
>can play as the thirteen colonies and literally create the united states in a grand campaign
>piracy, piracy everywhere
>traders wet dream, almost patrician/port royale tier
>naval blockades everywhere
>slaughtering of natives

Shit is endless fucking kino and I genuinely haven't enjoyed a Total War this much in years. I mean the smaller, tighter games like Shogun 2 are great, but there is something to be said for grand strategy tier maps and campaigns which none of the games have had since.

This is complete bullshit as Total War is a top selling series consistently even the weaker entries. That said the historical titles aren't even worth making since they just shoehorn in the magical shit from warhammer under different names in a lazy effort to make it semi-mythical when the whole point of the series was large scale historical battles with reasonably realistic unit tactics.

They'll never make a game with the pacing of Rome or Medieval again, I'd even settle for another game at least as good as Shogun 2 despite being the beginning of the end of quality output. The worst part being that CA have a monopoly on the concept so there's not even a hope of some slav studio doing a spiritual successor.

On release it was Rome II level of fucked with game-breaking bugs, terrible optimisation, load speeds and incredibly demanding specs for the time.

Lot's of the mechanics were underdeveloped, the AI is probably the worst in any of the games and that's including the very first Shogun. the computer can't deal with the three campaign maps. Naval combat was awkward and clunky blah blah. It's kind of like a Bethesda game where they released a framework for modders to make playable.

I will trade you 400 year old wheelbarrow tech for all of your cutting edge military stuff, first rate ships and all of your science stuff but only if you throw in say, enough gold to fill my manor's west wing. What say you?

warhammer is extremely fun with all the variety and dumb stuff you can do, but the core battle mechanics are the worst they've ever been somehow. it's honestly embarrassing how much objectively better rome1/med 2 are in almost every way compared to newer titles, what the fuck happened?
