To me Steve had the last big community for a character that had a realistic chance of being in Smash. Everyone else either got MiiToo'd, spirited away, or actually put into the game. I don't see anything other than niche picks in the coming months or possibly fucking Jonesy

It's because the news cycle for this game slowed down compared to the last fighter pass. There's nothing to look forward to and these threads just devolve into the same shitposts and character picks.

all the new characters are feeling either disappointing, formulaic, or just jumbles of other character's mechanics

I've wanted Impa since the first Hyrule Warriors and Zelda needs a new rep. Next year is the 35th anniversary of Zelda, AoC just released, and BotW2 is looking like a Holiday 2021 title. I'm just waiting to see if they announce a spirit event soon for AoC, since new Nintendo release have been getting spirit events a few weeks after they release. If we don't get one, I'll feel like she's a little closer to getting in.

If we're getting a reveal, it's gonna be the 10th for Game Awards assuming this character isn't a disappointment

Game Informer guy said Byleth was supposed to be December '19 release. His trailer straight up feels like it was supposed to be at the end of some Fire Emblem event or its own standalone video, not attached to a Smash direct since the reveal was so antilcimatic just showing Byleth in the first 5 seconds

Maybe it was another Game Awards like Joker?
